The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is seeking a Sophomore, Junior or Senior level college student for a summer internship in the Bank's Research department. Students majoring in Economics, Urban Studies, Geography, History or Computer Science will be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities:The deliverable is the creation of a database of county-level vehicle registration data in the early 20th century. The historical material has been mostly collected and needs to be transformed into usable data using image processing and OCR software. Your task will be to perform data capture and clean and assemble the processed data into a complete data product, carefully documenting decisions along the way.
Required Skills:Comfortable with standard Windows programs, preferred experience with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software and database creation. Candidate should demonstrate strong attention to detail, organizational skills, initiative, and substantive communication skills in both written and oral. Flexible and able to effectively plan and manage one’s own time to work on multiple projects. Other Requirement:Background investigations including drug testing are required for all new hires as a condition of employment, after the job offer is made.
