For example, proven experience in organizing students by age or skill level, or in developing procedures for progressive skill building. Assist with recruiting students for camp. Attend NCE summer staff orientation and other planning meetings as requested leading up to camp Create program budget in collaboration with NCE Finance Director Track spending for needed materials; submit advanced requests for materials needed; provide appropriate documentation for reimbursement requests Plan program curriculum and activities to cover the sports skills advertised in the description for the relevant sports camp Recommend hires for unfilled staffing positions in accordance with camp regulation ratios and program needs Ensure staff turn in their hiring paperwork by the deadline Execute a curriculum and training and growth plan for CITS; supervise program to ensure CITs are receiving mentorship, feedback, and opportunities to engage in camp processes Train staff to follow camp regulation and NCE policy guidelines and to provide a high quality of experience for campers Supervise counselor and CIT cohorts Supervise camp staff, including providing feedback and coaching on program quality Support staff with student behavioral issues and intervene directly when necessary to offer a strength-based, empathic approach Contact/communicate with Summer Program Director or Summer Program Assistant Director as necessary around issues that arise Review medical/allergy information for all campers; check in with families in advance to make an appropriate plan; ensure medical/allergy needs are adequately and confidentially addressed at camp Ensure adherence to protocols for check-in, drop-off, attendance, and lunch processes Attend a wrap-up meeting after the conclusion of camp to give feedback to NCE Central Staff Become familiar with NCE instructor handbook; ensure that camp regulations and NCE policies, including any COVID-19 procedures, are carefully followed by campers and staff Ensure regular communication, including prompt communication and documentation around incidents and accidents, with Summer Program Director, Assistant Director, and NCE Central Staff Seek assistance of Summer Program Director and NCE Central Staff as appropriate Oversee respectful use of facilities Assist NCE central staff with any potential additional tracking or coordination Consistent, reliable and punctual attendance is essential for supervision and instruction of the students Responsible for implementing “other job related duties” as needed Work takes place in a noisy environment with frequent interruptions Regularly required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 35 pounds. Summary:
The Instructor: Sports, formerly called Sports Director, works collaboratively with Kids Program Coordinators, the NCE Summer Program Director, and the NCE Assistant Summer Program Director to coordinate and run the day-to-day operations of a summer sports camp. The Instructor: Sports will implement best practices to uphold NCE’s mission and values, ensure all camp regulations are followed, recommend sports staff for hiring, and supervise all relevant sports staff, and offer summer campers a safe, seamless, and fun experience with NCE. To accomplish these goals, the Instructor: Sports must have a strong background working with children, keen detail orientation and acumen for streamlining organizational logistics, strong background in the relevant sport, proven supervisory skills, and excellent customer service demeanor for communicating with caregivers and other stakeholders.
