The College Preparatory School, an independent high school in Oakland, California, seeks a full-time Math teacher beginning in July 2022. This position entails teaching four sections of Math (the level is flexible but the teacher will be guaranteed no more than two preps). The teacher will be filling in for a teacher taking family leave. This position will end in early January. Although the teacher in question will only be with us for a short time, we hope that we can support them in their professional development as they help us maintain a high level of instruction for our students. Candidates should be eager to embrace spirited intellectual challenges in a rich academic environment that values equity and inclusiveness.
The College Prep Math program is innovative and rigorous. Full-time teachers teach four classes. Section sizes average 16 students. Math teachers work closely with one another, honing and reshaping the curriculum which is based on an integrated program. Across the curriculum, teachers integrate applications, review, and theory. Students use both texts and teacher-produced material designed for incremental, developmental learning. The predominant mode of instruction involves students working in cooperative groups.
Founded in 1960, The College Preparatory School is an independent coeducational secondary school created for intellectual risk-takers who want to pursue a purposeful education with kindred peers. As an equal opportunity employer, College Prep welcomes candidates representing diversity of all kinds. We celebrate the inclusivity of our community regarding race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
