Substance Abuse Counselor/CA-SAC is a Training Employee Assistance Program (TEAP) Specialist who work with young adults ages 16-24 years of age to provide services for prevention, education, identification of substance use problems, relapse prevention, and helping students overcome barriers to employment.
- Makes assessments of all students to determine those who might be in need of intervention due to substance use
- Conducts individual and group counseling to students who are in need of intervention
- Ensures all students who test positive for drugs are retested within a 45 day probationary period
- Provides follow up counseling to students who have completed the Training Employee Assistance Program (TEAP) to encourage and prevent relapse
- Ability to design, develop and implement a program related to alcohol and other drugs of abuse and intervention
- Provides prevention and education to all student employees and staff as well as in- service training sessions
- Maintain confidential reports and records on all referrals and cases
Education/Experience:
- NY State Certification as a CA-SAC
- 2 Years of experience in work related field
- Must possess Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency required
