JOB DESCRIPTION

Vista College is currently hiring for a Student Services Coordinator at the Beaumont, Texas campus.

Schedule consists of Monday through Friday with days that are 9:00am to 6:00pm, 10:00am to 7:00pm and 8:00am to 5:00pm.

The Student Services Coordinator is responsible for campus-wide retention initiatives and student satisfaction initiatives. This position works closely with campus management, faculty, and students. This position reports to the Director of Education and is responsible for assisting in the following capacity:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Academic
  • Organize tutoring for students on study skills, success habits and any program content areas and assist with the Learning Resources for the campus
  • Contact and advise high risk students on a weekly basis through a variety of sources (daily phone calls, e-mails, etc.). Contact is defined as communication made by both parties.
  • Address immediate academic/instructional concerns with DOE, follow-up with student as directed
  • Complete advising for all students as directed by the DOE and in accordance policies and procedures
o Conduct proactive advising
o Assist with academic plans as directed
  • Contact “application complete” students within 72 hours of change in status and complete the Student Services Introduction call and follow-up e-mail
  • Document all contact with students in CampusVue
  • Support students failing to meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards utilizing their academic plans and provide updates

Retention
  • Contribute to a continually upward trend or a campus-wide retention rate of not less than 70% through individual, campus, and organizational-wide initiatives and improvements
  • Update and maintain a list of local resources for lower income students in need of child-care, medical treatments, transportation assistance, and housing assistance, and working closely with staff to identify students in need or who would benefit from these resources
  • Monitor progress and provide resources as needed to consortium students to ensure success in the online environment
  • Prepare as directed for retention meetings including updating the retention tracker with timely and accurate information
  • Coordinate completion of students surveys and process in accordance with policy and procedure
  • Implement the SAVE process and coordinate efforts with all departments to reduce student attrition

Student Services
  • Participate as directed in new student orientations, re-entry orientations, graduation, new faculty orientation, professional development trainings, and various Ops meetings/conference calls
  • Promote student morale through various activities and recognition events
  • Present workshops to students on various topics as directed

Administrative
  • Write and distribute the campus newsletter once per grading period (minimum)
  • Provide content for various Social Media outlets
  • Process notification letters and maintain records of student contacts

Perform all other duties as assigned or directed

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • The Student Services Coordinator must have an Associate’s degree minimally with a Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred. Qualified candidates must possess excellent communication, conflict resolution, problem solving skills, and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment of growth and change. Post-secondary teaching experience is a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have an acceptable driving record.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • May be required to travel to different sites.
