BJC Corporate Health Services
, the occupational medicine organization within BJC HealthCare, externally supports employers and employees of the St. Louis metropolitan area with three full-service BarnesCare clinics that provide expert physicals, surveillance, injury/exposure evaluation and treatment. Specialized services include contract management of work-related injury care for BJC hospitals, independent medical exams, traveler's health, on-site services, care management, toxicology support and two 24/7 hotlines for body substance exposures and emergency room coordination of work-related care. BJC Corporate Health Services provides occupational health support for BJC employees through on-site and virtual oversight including administration of workers' compensation. BJC Corporate Health Services also manages the BJC WellAware fitness center, which extends fitness opportunities with on-site classes at BJC hospitals throughout the metropolitan area. In 2010, BJC Corporate Health Services became the first and only St. Louis occupational medicine provider quality-certified by the National Association of Occupational Health Providers.

The BJC Central Staffing Office (CSO) is an internal staffing pool that provides staff to 12 BJC hospitals* within their Intensive Care Units, Non-Intensive Care Units, and Emergency Departments. The CSO determines staffing needs and assigns staff based on requests across the health system. The CSO provides nurses with variety and the opportunity to expand their nursing skills by caring for patients with varying conditions and treatment plans. It also provides opportunities to build professional relationships across BJC HealthCare.

Overview


Role Purpose

Provides multi-skilled, direct patient care, under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology.
  • Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
  • Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
  • Collects clinical data and information on patients, and documents appropriately.
  • Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
