This is responsible and reliable 'working' landscape and streetscape supervisor for the Clean and Safe Program. Work involves landscape maintenance and litter control for selected streetscapes and parking lots. Must be knowledgeable of landscape installation and maintenance practices and procedures. Must supervise, train, and schedule work crews to provide superior maintenance of target areas. Work is performed under the supervision of the Horticulturist. Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following duties are normal for this position. Other duties may be required and assigned.Responsible for the general maintenance of landscaped areas for selected City streetscapes and parking lots for their care and improvement, to include trimming, weeding, plant material replacements, flower replacement, beautification projects, fertilizing, mulching, litter & cigarette butt removal, vegetative removal, and other related items. Regularly inspects selected streetscapes and parking lots to determine deficiencies and corrects same.Supervise the work of assigned landscape crew and trains new employees in proper landscape techniques and procedures to ensure quality landscape and safe and proper handling of tools and equipment.Oversee crew to blow and vacuum sidewalks to effectively control debris and litter. Evaluate crew's performance and ensures work is accomplished according to plan and schedule.Oversee the monitoring of specific maintenance contracts, such as tree trimming, irrigation maintenance, planting installations, pressure cleaning landscape maintenance and litter removal within landscape nodes, sidewalks and parking lots.Provide "hands on" landscape maintenance work, directly and assisting laborers. Operate vehicles, blowers, mowers, and various landscape equipment.Tour and report problems with streetlights, decorative landscape lighting, sidewalks, street furniture, tree grates, and signage to appropriate departments.Coordinate with Parks Department to address irrigation deficiencies. Relay problems with disease and insects to Parks Department for appropriate treatment. Trouble-shoot problem areas. Relay violations on private property, such as outdoor cafes, to Code Enforcement Officer. Maintain files, write reports, obtain landscape quotes and meet with contractors and other city staff.Fosters positive employee relations and employee morale on a City-wide basis.***Hours of work are: Vacancy : 1Sunday & Monday - 4:30 AM - 1:00 PMTuesday-Thursday - 7:00 AM - 3:30 PMPunctuality and regular attendance are essential functions of this position. ***

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate or equivalent, supplemented by college level courses in landscape maintenance, horticulture, landscape design, or grounds maintenance to demonstrate the ability to excel as a Landscape Streetscape Supervisor. Minimum of five years previous experience as a governmental parks foreman or supervisor or other related occupation such as landscape foreman or supervisor for private industry, landscape contractor, golf course maintenance crew leader or supervisor, or property management supervisor where emphasis was related to landscape maintenance. Must possess a a Class B CDL Driver's License with a good driving record. Employee must be able to work flexible hours including weekends. Thorough knowledge of South Florida plant materials and sound horticultural practices for plant materials installation and landscape maintenance. Knowledge of tools and equipment to do related work. General knowledge of the function of irrigation systems. Ability to plan and supervise work of subordinates. Ability to train crew in proper landscape maintenance techniques. Ability to perform manual labor in hot, humid weather. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to maintain work log and project records and documents, and prepare detailed monthly reports. Strong communication and people skills. Must maintain professional and courteous demeanor to the Public while performing work and tasks as all work is performed in the Public vies. Computer skills to include word processing and spread sheets for scheduling and coordination of work details and projects. Ability to manage and prioritize routine, specialized and complex assignments and problems utilizing knowledge acquired through prior education, training, and experience. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form. Ability to adapt to an evolving and continually improving environment.
