Stock Administration Manager

We’re looking for a Stock Administrator Manager to join Bolt’s Legal team. This new position reports to our General Counsel and can be based out of any of our US offices or remotely within the US. In this role, you’ll own the hands-on, end-to-end administration of Bolt’s uniquely progressive and employee-friendly equity programs, including equity grants, option exercises, and more. This position is high-priority and we’re looking for someone to join us immediately. What you will be doing:- Lead Bolt’s day-to-day stock program administration including entering grants into Carta, processing exercises, separations, and answering questions from the team
- Preparing equity summaries for Board review and options grants for Board approval
- Create equity training materials and conduct training sessions, draft and distribute equity-related communications
- Act as primary Carta administrator and primary point of contact for equity questions from employees and investors
- Implement equity program best practices and automation to streamline equity administration as the Bolt team scales
- Scale the stock administration function to support Bolt’s growing team, including through process creation and automation
- Partner effectively with finance, accounting, people ops, and outside counsel to assist in calculation of stock based compensation expense; assist with external audits by providing supporting records and documentation; prepare and distribute year-end statements and tax filings related to equity transactions; and reconcile transactions, termination dates, tax withholding and reporting, and other items as required.
- Lead special equity programs as needed
What would set you up for success:- A proven track record in stock plan administration and exceptional attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and organizational skills
- Trustworthy and experienced in handling highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with executive stakeholders and the broader team
- Experience with equity administration platforms (we use Carta)
- Bachelors’ degree and 4+ years of experience in stock plan administration
- Prior experience at a high-growth private company
What would set you apart:- Certified Equity Professional (CEP) designation
- Familiarity with FAS 123(R) (ASC 718) and tax implications of equity compensation
- Advanced MS Excel / Google Sheets skills
- Advanced Powerpoint / Google Slides skills and experience leading equity trainings
- High tolerance for ambiguity and comfort working independently and proposing and defending solutions
- Willingness to dive in and get your hands dirty to get the job done
Expected Outcomes In 12 Months:- Lead day to day administration of Bolt’s equity programs, including managing Carta transactions (new grants, exercises, terminations)
- Prepare monthly equity summaries and new options grants approvals for Board of Directors
- Support Legal, Finance, Accounting, and People Ops teams on equity related matters and reporting
- Effectively address team and investor equity questions
- Create and help program manage equity trainings alongside Bolt’s General Counsel
