Statistician I
About the Position
The Statistician I is responsible for working with end users of data in the CFO division to assist in the design and implementation of reporting and analytical needs. An important part of this role is design, recommendation and implementation of optimizations of the SAS business intelligence platform for the purposes of financial analytics and reporting. This role will also utilize the SAS business intelligence tools to optimize LGFCU business intelligence in support of actionable strategies that support the LGFCU balance sheet. Will work on project teams as assigned for the purpose of creating or modifying critical analysis to support LGFCU strategic initiatives.
Normal Day-to-Day Work
- Delve deep into internal and external data for the purpose of creating actionable intelligence that influences strategic decision making
- Utilize statistical analysis and data mining techniques to benchmark and understand trends, as well as identify any factors that could affect end use results.
- Design, build, and implement financial data analytics capabilities to drive business strategy.
- Perform root cause analysis with some direction to understand why data discrepancies occurred, additional data concerns and research the best course of correction.
- Takes ownership of issues through resolution including close coordination between business analysts.
- Work with developers and analysts to test and validate data attributes to ensure consistent data integration.
- Design and create dashboards to ensure a variety of end users have the appropriate level and access to metrics that drive business.
- Provide analytical and modeling support to various company optimization and utilization initiatives.
- Collect, evaluate, interpret and present recommendations from quantitative data to support decision making.
Job Qualifications
Here are a few skills you MUST have to be considered for this position.
- BA/BS Business, Information Systems, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics or related field degree with an emphasis on data analysis and data management.
- Minimum 1-3 years related experience working with relational or business intelligence database systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required; Proficient in data analytics
- Fundamental knowledge of SAS, R, Python or similar coding language as well as a knowledge of SQL, relational databases and data architecture concepts.
- Knowledge of relational database concepts.
- Ability to analyze and document complex business processes, work cross functionally across multiple departments, and manage multiple projects/priorities in a timely manner.
- Must have the ability to learn and apply new software technologies.
- Ability to function in a Consumer business office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (file boxes, computer printer).
- Travel required sometimes

- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel.
