Staff Software Engineer (Remote) Details

Position Purpose:
The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for leading a team of engineers building and designing a product that our customers and associates love. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team with engineers of all experience levels who help each other build and grow technical and leadership skills while creating, deploying, and supporting production applications. In addition, Staff Software Engineers will assist in product and tool selection, configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning and production monitoring.

Staff Software Engineers contribute to foundational code elements that can be reused as well as architectural diagrams and other product-related documentation.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a core player on the product team and are expected to build and grow the skillsets of the more junior Engineers.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have a passion for Performance Engineering and can take on performance analysis and code optimization challenges across various high availability applications deployed with in data center and cloud with focus in one or more of the areas below.
  • Candidates with 5 - 7 years of experience in Performance testing
  • Experience in Non-functional requirements gathering, understanding of application landscape, creating test strategies, identifying test scenarios, generate idealistic workloads for various performance testing.
  • Discuss non-functional requirements with different stakeholders like Technical Architects, QA, Business, Development Lead, and Platform Support for different applications to define performance acceptance criteria for critical business transactions
  • End-to-End Performance Analysis: Analyze large scale distributed environments and optimize application performance bottlenecks in our application stack.
  • Coding and Developing skills: Develop and Debug code to identify and fix performance issues
  • Enhance user experience by measuring and optimizing user interface across mobile and other devices.
  • Evangelize Performance: Own and drive the Performance initiatives
  • Automation tools for Performance: Design and build efficient Performance Engineering processes, Standards, Best Practices and Automation to repeat tests for every build. Detect Performance regression test suite for Production releases.
  • Candidates should possess good communication skills, customer handling and reporting skills
  • Should have good experience in working on using Neoload, LoadRunner, JMeter etc and exploring new open source/vendor tools to improve developer experience.
  • Should have good experience in performance testing , monitoring and partnering with product teams in troubleshooting cloud based and container based (Kubernetes) applications
  • Experience in working with various protocols like Web/Web services/RTE/RDP/SAP and java protocols
  • Proficient in Load, Stress, Endurance and Batch Testing
  • Experience in monitoring Web, Application , Database and Cloud based applications and collecting the metrics.
  • Knowledge/Experience in Retail domain preferred.
  • Sound knowledge on analysis of test results and finding issues/bottlenecks
  • Should track the project status closely, prepare summary reports, pro-actively identify the risks and prepare mitigation plan.
  • Align performance scripts into CI/CD pipelines using DevOps tools like Jenkins.
  • Work with DevOps teams to integrate performance tools with Jenkins/Git hub to have regression test scripts executed.
  • Experience in working with Vendor Partner Performance Engineers situated in different geo locations.
