JOB SUMMARY
Assumes the responsibility for providing professional care to a designated patient population. Accountable for supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse and non-professional staff assigned to the unit.
- Directs patient-care according to medical center policies, procedures and accepted standards of practice and care.
- Conducts patient assessments, including history and physical.
- Develops a plan of care for each patient using nursing process.
- Administers and records prescribed medications, treatments and procedures.
- Leads the team in planning, implementations, evaluation of patient care.
- Assists the medical staff with examinations, treatments, special tests and procedures.
- Participates in unit activities such as answering phones, call lights, distributing meals, environmental tasks or other assigned duties.
- Directs team conferences, shift report and care planning.
EDUCATION
- High school diploma/GED
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
REQUIREMENT
- At least 18 years old
- Able to read and write the English language
- Demonstrate proficiency of skills per checklist
- Able to pass a written pharmacology exam.
- Able to perform considerable standing, walking and lifting.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
- Current MS RN license
- Current CPR certification
- ACLS certification within the first year of employment
