The Applied Anthropology Laboratories is a highly productive research and outreach Institute within the College of Sciences and Humanities. AAL engages current undergraduate and graduate students hands-on in learning the real work of their discipline to prepare them for productive careers. We perform a wide range of research and service for and with myriad community partners in the Midwest funded by agencies from the National Parks Service, to National Science Foundation, to the National Endowment for the Humanities, and private clients across the region. Come engage in state-of-the-art research, training, and industry service with us. Learn. Work. Discover. Work with AAL staff and Research Fellows in the execution of grant projects; conduct all phases of archaeological fieldwork, laboratory analysis, and report preparation. Maintain a timely schedule for completing all projects. Plan and implement cultural resource management contract projects, including records checks, field reconnaissance, subsurface testing, mitigation, and data recovery. Write reports detailing assigned projects which are acceptable to the Indiana Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology, Ohio State Historic Preservation Office, other regulatory and/or funding agency. In cooperation with other AAL staff, maintain supplies and equipment needed to complete projects. Perform other related duties as assigned. The Staff Archaeologist is a term appointment through the end of the fiscal year (June 30, 2021), potentially renewable based on performance and funding.
