The LG Academy develops and facilitates curriculum for in-person and virtual technical training on LG Business Solutions’ Information Technology (IT) and Information Display (ID) product lines. Audiences include; internal employees, specifically sales teams, and external end users, integrators/resellers, technology ecosystem partners, solution specifiers, and other channel partners. This group works with LG headquarters and local subject matter experts to provide effective training programs primarily in the USA, but also extending to the rest of North America.


A Senior Technical Trainer is responsible for providing training to various audiences on LG’s IT and Information Display technologies. Responsible for promoting LG both as a brand and also as a partner. Responsible for maintaining their knowledge base by working with engineers in headquarters.

The Senior Technical Trainer will also be required to maintain knowledge of market trends and competitive programs and product information. Evaluate and assess curriculum and make recommendations to continually position LG Electronics as the pinnacle leader in industry.

Primary Role and Responsibilities;

  • Participate (and often lead) in the design, development and delivery of instructor-led training courses on business-specific processes, products, systems or other initiatives.
  • Coordinates the preparation of training meetings including creating and updating class rosters and curriculum, sending registrations, managing hardware and software set-up, completing evaluation tracking, ensuring room and equipment setup and ordering materials.
  • Facilitate and present trainings at LG training centers (primarily Lincolnshire, IL), but also at key events and channel partner locations across the country as required.
  • Travel (as needed) to provide training either at LG’s training facilities, to customer sites, to trade shows, and other events. Occasional international travel possible to support LG Canada and/or for visits to LG HQ in South Korea.
  • Create an evaluation process to measure student performance through written and hands-on assessments.
  • Spearhead project support for training initiatives including acting as a subject matter expert for instructional designers, eLearning developers and technical writers reviewing instructional designs, testing procedures and technology.
  • Collaborate with other subject matter experts (SMEs) within the Technical Sales organization to ensure curriculum reflects LG standards and current best practices.
  • Facilitate relationship of training and the field as it relates to the appropriate brand context and requirements.
  • Provide as required, insights and training intelligence for future product development.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Product Management to ensure all trainings support brand requirements and reflects LG solutions properly.
  • Up to 50% travel.

Qualifications

  • 10 plus year of AudioVisual or IT industry experience
  • 5 or more years of experience in a field engineering, sales engineering, or training role in the AV or IT industries. Sales experience within the IT or AV industries a plus
  • Must have solid knowledge of digital display standards, and the types of peripherals used on these systems. Avixa’s CTS accreditation a plus.
  • Able to communicate effectively and present to small, medium and large audiences.
  • Have good facilitation & presentations skills and deliver training in an engaging fashion. Able to relate to user’s work environment and objectives and deliver product training accordingly
  • Understand and apply standard levels of learning measurement and evaluation.
  • Understand and apply best practices methodologies of instructional design.
  • Knowledge of principals and methods of adult education and presentation techniques.
  • Proven track record in providing design and development training strategies supporting hard copy and web based materials including documentation, presentation, procedures, reference materials, activities, courses, workshops and assessments.
  • Capable of using good judgment and discretion when exposed to confidential information.
  • Self-motivated and able to thrive in both a team and highly autonomous setting.
  • Highly proficient in using MS Office suite, primarily Powerpoint, and other content creation platforms. Experience with video production, Visio, AutoCAD, SketchUP, and Revit a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written & computer skills, and organizational skills.
