Job summary
Do you want to shape the future of consumer electronics devices?
Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronic devices, creating the best-selling Kindle, FireTV, Echo, and Ring family of products. What will you help us create?
The Role
As a System Integrity Modeling/Verification Engineer, you lead the charge in modeling and simulation to identify what can go wrong and best ways to accommodate it in electrical design. The team works to apply customer use cases to products ensuring electrical and battery safety, reliability, and customer experience by design.
Our engineers work on multiple products starting in early concept with architecture and continuing through volume prototypes. We work backwards from real customer use cases and ensure the device achieves the desired behavior. You will develop methodologies for battery charging/longevity, electrical surge suppression, drop detection, ESD mitigation, electronic control & feedback, and more.
Engineers work independently to identify systemic or emerging design challenges facing customer use scenarios, develop a deep understanding of the issue, brainstorm mitigation methodologies, deploy improvements to products, and specify test procedures to validate the improvement. One such example is: When a device is dropped in the ocean, how will it know? What will it do? What should it do?
For these products you will start with the customer and identify use cases, safety and reliability stress cases. For each case you will analyze the electrical and firmware behavior through modeling and simulation to achieve a desired result. You will frequently act as a problem solver, taking ambiguous or overly constrained issues and determining a path to a solution via hardware, architecture, or firmware design modifications.
This position is an electrical engineering position. You will create simulation platforms in Cadence/Matlab/Simulink for analog, mixed-signal and system-level simulations. You will create test benches from use cases and analyze the simulation/analysis results to confirm meeting product requirements. You will not only interact with internal firmware, mechanical, thermal, manufacturing, and software teams on product specifications and use cases, but also you will serve as a liaison to communicate with external component vendors to request, create and validate behavioral models of components.
Can you make the devices work as they should?
