The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Game Tech Solutions Architecture team is looking for an experienced and motivated technologist with a passion for cloud technology and games to help our customers build in the cloud. Solutions Architects at AWS work directly with customers to solve technical and architectural challenges, and they are experienced technologists with technical breadth and depth coupled with strong interpersonal skills. As a member of the customer account team, Solutions Architects are responsible for the overall technical relationship between customers and AWS, and they collaborate with professional services, support, product teams, and AWS partner ecosystem.

Although this role is focused on the Games industry, AWS covers a wide range of technologies including operational security, infrastructure, DevOps, machine learning and analytics, and more. Our customer solutions usually involve bringing together multiple of these at once. We are looking for a candidate who is comfortable at the intersection of technology and business. They will be broadly competent across many areas of technology and deep in one or more areas, with the fundamentals and the ability to learn complex new technologies quickly. Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we’re building an environment that encourages knowledge sharing and mentorship.

In this role, you’ll work with games industry startups, indie studios, legendary blockbuster publishers, technology platforms, and middleware partners to design cloud architectures using AWS. Many of our customers are new to AWS or are in their early stages of their cloud journey. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of public cloud infrastructure technologies alongside a familiarity with game development technologies including engines, platforms, and middleware providers. They should be curious about cloud gaming architecture and be proficient in applicable technical use cases, architectures, and development workflows. They should also have the ability to connect technology with measurable business value. They should have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, products, and technical challenges through the lens of our customers and – most importantly – they should be passionate about a role supporting the games industry!

Key job responsibilities

• Lead the technical engagement with games industry customers.
• Educate customers on the value proposition of AWS and participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud.
• Establish technical credibility in sales cycles (personally or with the broader technical team), and credibly drive discussions with CTOs, CIOs, Chief Architects, Senior Developers, etc. from both customers and partners across the industry.
• Together with the broader Game Tech team, help develop the strategic plan for AWS in the games industry, particularly the technical elements of the strategy and plan to engage customers and partners to drive AWS adoption.
• Create technical solutions (i.e. code samples, reference architectures, white papers, etc) that can be used by customers, partners, and the AWS Solutions Architecture community to learn about and adopt cloud best practices.
• Conduct one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions to transfer knowledge to customers considering or already using AWS.
• Conduct customer briefings, present at customer events, further AWS Game Tech solutions-led thought leadership in the industry domains.
• Act as a technical liaison between customers and product teams to help evolve the AWS platform.

• A passion for Gaming! – Great understanding of how the Gaming industry operates and the unique characteristics and culture of the industry.
• Experience in game development, game live operations
• Technical knowledge of Games industry applications, platforms (i.e. Unity, Unreal), and data ecosystem, with ability to go deep on technical aspects to understand current and future customer needs and present AWS technical benefits.
• Passion for cloud technologies – deep understanding of public and hybrid cloud platforms, and a passion for using and adapting to new technologies.
• Professional experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS.
