GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Senior HR Business Partner is strategic, consultative and hands-on role that provides employee relations support to leadership and staff of their designated business groups within the Credit Union. This role is responsible for ensuring alignment of Human Resources programs & policies, business objectives, and work cultures in achieving business goals. Also accountable for building HR best practices utilizing the Credit Union’s core values in partnership with the leadership team it supports, and consulting with leadership on a full range of employee relation issues and strategic business needs. Both an effective influencer and knowledgeable about Human Resources’ multiple disciplines, the Senior HR Business Partner must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain positive working relationships at all levels within the Credit Union.
TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS
1. Serves as the primary point of contact in all Human Resources matters for leadership and staff of the Credit Union as assigned to their designated business groups.
2. Partner with senior leadership to provide HR support in developing and executing plans that optimize organizational design and development, talent management, employee development, and employee relations.
3. Interpret Golden 1 Credit Union policies and employee state and federal law to ensure all EEO matters are addressed in a fair, equitable and consistent manner.
4. Provide proper guidance and support for the recruitment process by assisting with leadership expectations, staffing models, and potential talent development.
5. Maintain a thorough understanding of state, city and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position as well as to all other positions under each designated business group.
6. Foster a positive and engaging work environment for each team member by promoting skill development, coaching for improvement and growth, inspiring others through your words and actions, ensuring positive employee morale throughout Golden 1, and embracing our mission, vision and core values.
7. Partner with leadership and staff to develop solutions as it relates to employee relations issues by providing effective, thorough, and objective investigations and separations as needed.
8. Provide day to day performance management support and guidance to managers on management, coaching, career development, disciplinary actions and employee relations. This also includes HR best practices, policies/procedures, and HR systems.
9. Assist in measuring results of HR processes and tools from a business unit perspective and how the impact of those results can bring about change.
10. Analyze data from multiple sources to determine possible areas of improvement within each designated business group and provide support and leadership to meets designated goals,
11. Collaborate with other members of the HR Team to implement the HR strategy, including representing client’s business strategy and expectations, representing Human Resources to the business units, and reconciling issues that create conflict between Human Resources and business unit strategy.
12. Provide assistance to employee inquiries regarding benefits, payroll, recruiting, compensation, and all other HR disciplines. Partner with the HR subject matter experts to effectively answer and resolve all complex inquiries. This includes workers compensation and leaves of absence to ensure consistency of best practices.
13. Understand the Credit Union’s business strategies and align human resource strategy and programs to achieve the business goals, including alignment of staffing, development, restructuring and compensation programs.
14. Collaborate with Executive leadership to understand and improve employee engagement, employee retention and turnover reduction.
15. Participate in special projects and assignments and performs other duties as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS
1. INTERNAL: All levels of staff and management.
2. EXTERNAL: Legal counsel, and numerous vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, business management, or related field preferred.
2. EXPERIENCE: Seven years or more experience in human resources as a consultant or generalist. Experience working in the financial services and banking industry preferred.
3. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
2. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computer, facsimile machine and telephone.
3. Corrected vision within the normal range.
4. Hearing within normal range.
5. Ability to lift 15 lbs. as may be required.
6. Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.
7. Ability to travel throughout the state of California to meet with branch employees as needed.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Senior/Professional in Human Resources (S/PHR) Certificate or SHRM Senior/Certified Professional (SHRM-S/CP) preferred, Compensation Certified Professional (CCP), and Benefits Certified Professional (BCP) a plus.
