JOB SUMMARY:
Apply electrical theory and related knowledge to direct, coordinate, and manage specific electrical projects at TDX Power Services project and utility sites. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Provides consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top-level contributor/specialist. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Operate with considerable latitude, exercising independent judgment and utilizing construction knowledge and experience in resolutions of typical questions and problems which may arise.
- Develop solutions-based project concepts, recommending appropriate technologies and capacities.
- Developing scope of work and estimates for projects and deliverables.
- Development of requirements (both high level and detailed) for projects, proposals and research activities.
- Performs complex electrical system analysis using sequence analysis techniques and using paper calculations as well as software based modeling.
- Perform testing and analysis of complex power systems and complex power quality problems.
- Work with operations, project and engineering to ensure design, layout and specifications on all projects.
- Provide technical assistance and resolution when electrical or engineering problems are encountered before, during and after construction.
- Participate in design development and suggests economical construction details to be incorporated into design drawings and specifications, utilizing lessons learned from other projects and construction best practices.
- Responsible for any design changes and the necessary paperwork required in the field while projects are underway.
- Advises management and operations of project status on a regular basis.
- Anticipates potential schedule or priority delays and plans for alternative actions.
- Provide input to the overall construction execution plan including site layout, equipment, materials, and construction organization.
- Provide input into schedule and planning for the implementation of projects.
- Review project status (issues log, risks, action items, timeline, and resources) regularly with the Operations and Project Manager.
- Assist in identifying and resolving issues.
- Participate in Home Office and field meetings with project team members, subcontractor and client personnel, as required.
- Identify potential problem areas or trends and work on continuous improvement issues.
- Maintain communication with the field team and Home Office project team members regarding significant problem areas and potential solutions.
- Assist the Operations and or Project Manager in developing corrective action plans to mitigate trends and variances to project budgets and schedules.
- Monitor purchased items, expediting reports and coordinating with Procurement to expedite potentially late deliveries which may jeopardize the project schedule.
- Have mutual accountability with Project Manager, Site Safety and QA/QC Manager for completion of efforts on time and within budget.
- Mentor project team members.
- Assist in managing project scope, timeline, and budget (i.e. Staff-hours & Risk Management)
- Perform Quality Control functions as appropriate.
- Assist in identifying and tracking new project opportunities as well as project funding and finance opportunities.
- Travel will be required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Journeyman Electrician
- Thorough understanding of standard engineering theories.
- Ability to obtain Electrical Administrative privileges.
- Power Generation experience 10 years.
- Advanced knowledge of design and operation of solid-state power conversion technologies.
- Advance knowledge of process control theory.
- Advanced knowledge and familiarity of math and power system modeling tools.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical protective relaying principles and applications.
- Be able to design, develop, test, or supervise the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use.
- Minimum seven years work experience in the field of industrial/commercial Electrical installations.
- Be able to read and analyze the most complex engineering documents and project plans.
- Broad knowledge in construction methods, practices, schedules, logistics and budgets.
- Understanding of standard concepts, principles and techniques.
- Ability to work extended work schedules as required supporting the project execution plans and schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and relationships.
- U.S. citizenship or U.S permanent resident status required.
- A valid drivers' license issued by state of residence and in good standing is required.
