POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for developing and maintaining the control, instrument and network systems required to control the nitrogen plant. The incumbent will evaluate and design plant projects and modifications to improve and enhance plant efficiency, improve equipment reliability, enhance plant safety, environmental compliance, and maintenance.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 2-year technical degree or higher for Electronics, Computer, software or controls preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 4 years field experience required in maintenance, electronics, or process/machine controls.
- Demonstrated experience of programing, configuring, integrating, and maintaining PLC, SCADA, DCS, CEMS (Rockwell and Schneider preferred).
- Experience laying out projects for construction and operation is required.
- Ability to read technical drawings, such as P&IDs, loop drawings, one-line diagrams and schematics.
- Work experience and proficiency in ladder logic and functional block architecture.
- Fluent in English, oral and written required
- Ability to adjust to frequent change and adjust schedule as needed to reach Departmental goals.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Responsible for the overall reliability of the site's instrumentation.
- Along with IT, provides maintenance & oversight for plant networks inside site firewall.
- Provides day-to-day technical support for the plant's operation and maintenance teams including after-hours support.
- Responsible for initiating and completing Instrumentation MOCs.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of the operator interface/control screens.
- Oversight of the DCS, PLC and CEMS and data systems.
- Responsible for monitoring and updating PLC and DCS's firmware and software.
- Responsible for instrument project management and providing instrument input into site technical projects.
- Develop procedures/train instrument techs.
- Update I/O loop drawings. Maintain local panel schedules.
- Regularly communicate with superivsor work progress, concerns and questions

- Accurate, reliable, and stable operation of control systems and environmental control devices.
- Operators supplied with process information in an easy to read format to enable them to monitor and control plant operations
- Reliable, fast, and up-to-date equipment maintenance to ensure a high degree of productivity
