Job Description:
The Senior AV Systems Design Engineer will be responsible for the advanced design solutions in the AV and Unified Communication systems. Engineers will work closely with the sales staff and engineering team members to provide both general/specific recommendations on equipment, technologies, and implementation. Upon sale, the Senior AV Systems Design Engineer creates documents, finalizes design needs, provides drawings, prepares equipment lists, specifies configuration and coordination with other to ensure the successful installation and configuration of the system as designed.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult with the Sales team or other members of the engineering team to establish customer needs and prepare solutions for presentation
  • Determine client expectations for system functionality through communication with the sales department and client
  • With the sales department, recommend general and specific solutions to clients
  • Design complete systems for quoting including equipment, parts, consumables and labor
  • Collaborate effectively and consult with other members of the engineering team to deliver required solutions
  • Write scopes of work to convey system expectations
  • Respond to bid requests
  • Diagram systems using AutoCAD and Visio
  • Present system proposals with sales team
  • Work with a project manager to manage proposals including coordination of installers with end client and tracking of time and materials
  • Provide technical support to Alpha Video employees and clients in any areas of expertise
  • Research new products to remain current on technology solutions
  • All other duties as assigned and deemed appropriate

  • In-depth knowledge of legacy and state-of-the industry multimedia systems and equipment used in best-in-class conference centers and large venues
  • Demonstrated expertise in analyzing and solving complex technical problems and an interest in developing new strategies
  • Strong results oriented with a flexible attitude to deliver seamless and timely services to customers
  • Familiar with all types of AV equipment and control systems, including Extron, Crestron, Dante, Q-Sys, etc.
  • Strong strategic writing and engineering documentation skills
  • Proficient understanding of LAN/WAN hardware and software for switches, hubs, routers, point-to-point data circuits via copper and fiber for audio and video and control
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills related to videoconferencing, connectivity and A/V equipment required; firm understanding of global videoconferencing standards
  • Experienced in full setup, configuration and troubleshooting to the network level on Cisco, Poly, Zoom, Teams, and similar videoconferencing systems
  • Maintain high and low-end video projectors and displays such as Epson, Sony, Panasonic, etc.
  • In-depth “hands on” knowledge of audio and video production tools such as cameras, switchers, monitors, live streaming systems, etc. and able to correctly setup and diagnose problems with such equipment
  • Ability to liaise with manufacturers and integration team to identify issues with hardware in the field
  • Ability to create, read and notate on high-level schematics, signal flow diagrams and construction drawings, Proficient with Auto CAD
  • Candidate must be a proactive leader and “A” player
  • Candidate must have strong verbal communications skills, be well organized and capable of handling multiple assignments
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to supervise small teams. Sensitivity and tact in dealing with staff/partners/clients at different levels in a diverse environment
  • Candidate must have a commitment to excellence and to ongoing education in Engineering and IT and to the mastery of his or her craft
Preferred:
  • Experience with Large Direct View LED Systems
  • Knowledge of distributed audio deployment
  • AVIXA (CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I), DMC-E, EAVA, CVE, ACE, CCNA, or other related certifications preferred
  • Knowledge of IP Networking, including routing protocols and VoIP, SIP, H.323, videoconferencing applications
Education/Experience:
  • 8+ years’ broadcast, AV or telecommunications experience; large market/facility
  • 2+ years’ experience supervisory experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electronic, computer or telecommunications Engineering or equivalent field experience
Licenses:
  • Valid driver’s license
  • OSHA 10
