Speech Language Pathologist Details

Dorchester County Public Schools - Cambridge, MD

Employment Type : Full-Time

Dorchester County Public Schools is currently accepting applications for Speech Language Pathologists. The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for evaluating students with speech and language disabilities and determining their eligibility for Special Education services, completing assessment reports, and determining the educational impact of speech language issues. DCPS Speech Language Pathologists also participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) Team meetings, may serve as case manager for students that are identified as having speech language impairments, and develop and implement student IEPs.


DUTIES
:

  • Provide direct Speech Language Pathology Services to qualified students.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with appropriate goals and objectives for each individual student.
  • Screen, evaluate, diagnose, and remediate communication disorders of students, birth to twenty-one years of age.
  • Collaborate with early intervention staff, special educators, general educators, administrators, and other school personnel to ensure understanding and consistent application of IFSP goals.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant records on each child served.
  • Maintain and submit accurate and timely Medical Assistance billing information.
  • Participate in professional development activities designed to enhance knowledge and professional growth.
  • Collect and maintain accurate data on student performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned consistent with program requirements, and as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CCC (Certificate of Clinical Competence) eligible.
  • Ability to select and utilize therapeutic materials effectively.
  • Familiarity with Assistive Technology and Augmentative Communication Devices
  • Good communication and human relations skills needed in order to implement consultative programs, ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a member of the IFSP team, and ability to implement administrative policy and procedures.
  • Good writing and organizational skills needed to formulate concise clinical reports.
  • Experience working cooperatively with professionals in related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated skill in working with parents and caregivers.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent human relations skills.
  • Other combination of applicable education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position.
