Position description

Specialist Position - Kheirbek lab

The Kheirbek lab in the in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a Specialist. The candidate will lead studies related to the neurobiology of memory encoding and its disruption in mood and anxiety disorders. The candidate will perform systems neuroscience studies.

Required Qualifications:
  • Specialists appointed at the full rank must possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or must have at least ten or more years of experience in the relevant specialization. Appointees at the Full level should have significant record of academic accomplishment including published or in-press publication, and a demonstrated record of University and/or public service. Additionally, appointees at the Full level will provide considerable independence in planning and execution of research.
  • Experience with 2-photon and microendoscopic imaging in behaving mice.
  • Experience building behavioral equipment (and associated aruduino/matlab coding).
  • Experience with data analysis of calcium imaging data (and associated python coding skills).
  • Experience leading small groups of students.
  • Experience with mouse behavior, histology.
  • Past experience with grant writing
  • Past experience with manuscript writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Post-graduate training in field.

Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service.
