Core Responsibilities
- The Specialist will perform assignments of varying complexity in: wireless system and modem designs, data analysis, evaluation and specification of suitable wireless system components, development, testing and implementation of algorithms, field investigations of equipment and communication problems and preparation of associated reports, specifications, standards and test memoranda within their field of responsibility.
- Will evaluates and specify wireless system and related components.
- Specifies and oversee the development and implementation of wireless software application.
- Evaluates information received wirelessly from field installed equipment to ensure proper setup and functionality of the equipment.
- Ensures the information is processed correctly based on set criteria and algorithms.
- Runs exceptions reports and develops trends to identify equipment that are not communicating
- Conducts and participates in field evaluation/analysis of equipment and communication system issues, identifies root cause problems and prepares failure analysis reports.
- Works with peers to establish corrective action strategies and directs the Operating Organizations on implementation.
- Investigates the feasibility of new technology to advance the information gathering system and establish cost effective technologically advanced solutions.
- Directs Information Resources on developing application strategies.
- Writes reports and evaluates technical documents.
- Builds computer generated models for real time simulation of system conditions.
- Calibrates the model using field measured values and validates the model output.
- Prepares specifications, standards, and test procedures.
- Provides technical assistance and support to customers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or applicable area And at least 2 years full time work experience with a minimum 1 year experience in software application and Information Technology. Must be knowledgeable in wireless system design and related software application, database maintenance and development and implementation of algorithms. Ability to write specifications and standards and coordinate wireless communication system projects and assignments.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or applicable area And at least 2 years full time work experience with a minimum 1 year experience in software application and Information Technology. Must be knowledgeable in wireless system design and related software application, database maintenance and development and implementation of algorithms. Ability to write specifications and standards and coordinate wireless communication system projects and assignments.
Required Work Experience
- REQUIRED EXPERIIENCE:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or applicable area and 2 years full time work experience with a minimum 1 year experience in software application and info technology.
- Must be knowledgeable in wireless system design and related software application, database maintenance and development and implementation of algorithms.
- Ability to write specifications and standards and coordinate wireless communication system projects and assignments.
- Must be highly motivated with the ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence and understand the vital importance of personal accountability with an ability to render good business decisions.
- Requires strong oral and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with personnel on all levels.

Other Physical Demands
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
- Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
- Must be able and willing to wear PPE and be able to climb in and out of underground structures and perform field visits to different company facilities.
- Must be able and willing to lift items up to 50 pounds of weight.
- Must be able and willing to work in different conditions present in various facilities and underground structures in all service territories.
