Job Summary:
Coordinates Special Education Finance within the Grosse Pointe Public Schools, collaborating with the Business office/Human Resources office. Manages documentation and monitoring of Section 504's, IFSP's, and Record requests.

Job Duties:

  • Collaborates with the Director of Special Education and Business Affairs to administer and monitor the Special Education budget.
  • Maintains Special Education budget and assists with all related budget processes throughout the school year, including:
  • Processes all Special Education purchases using the SMART system.
  • Manages and reviews all incoming Special Education invoices, mileage and staff travel/reimbursement requests/reconciliations and designates applicable account numbers for biweekly accounts payable runs.
  • Generates reports in SMART system to research past purchases, account numbers and account balances.
  • Supports the development, along with the Business office, for the GPPSS Actual Cost Report (SE4096) for Special Education and collects/submits GPPSS 4096's to Wayne County RESA.
  • Works with the Business office on the Special Education Federal Grants provided to GPPSS, including IDEA Flow-through, IDEA Preschool Flow-through.
  • Supports the Special Education Administration in the development of Federal budgets to support the program designs of the Federal grants, including meeting process deadlines for submittal of the grant into MEGS+.
  • Works collaboratively with student service staff to maximize Medicaid revenue.
  • Collects and monitors the documentation for Section 504's, IFSP's and Records Requests, for the Student Services office.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required, associate’s degree or above strongly preferred.
  • Previous financial or book-keeping experience required.
  • Knowledge of SMART or other financial/GL systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
  • Excellent computation, organizational, detail-orientation and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work confidentially, professionally and effectively with district staff and outside organizations.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks accurately with regular interruption.
  • Excellent communication skills
