We have been processing soybeans since 1942, with our SoyPlus line launched in 1984. We are a soybean processing plant, producing soybean meal and oil. In addition to producing meal for dairy cattle feed, we produce soybean oil to produce biodiesel. We process over 23 million bushels of soybeans in a year

Landus is currently seeking a Soybean Production teammate to join our team! The ideal candidate has experience with equipment, mechanical skills, is reliable and willing to learn and assist others. The purpose of this job is to learn how to perform SoyPlus Plant operations functions in order to benefit internal and external customers of Landus Cooperative, ensuring quality soybean production, while maintaining clean, safe, and well-kept facilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The purpose of the position is to operate equipment associated with the production of our soybean meal and oil. The production employee will consistently monitor the process to continually improve the safety and quality of our feed.

As a SoyPlus Production employee, you will:

  • Perform load out functions, which include preparing and loading trucks and rail cars for shipment
  • Learn various quality control functions including operation of testing equipment for meal, visual inspection of all products, and measuring physical inventory on a periodic basis.
  • Collect and prepare oil samples for an outside lab.
  • Be able to enter a confined space with the proper permit.
  • Understand and follow all safety requirements
  • Operate Forklift and Rail equipment
  • Learn how to perform tasks in a safe and productive manner.
  • Perform general facility maintenance and housekeeping, including equipment inspection and monitoring throughout the facility.
  • Ability to communicate with customers and co-workers both orally and written.
  • Learn to use basic mechanical tools to perform the required duties.
  • Work independently or together as a team.
  • Learn to use computer operational equipment.
  • Learn to record data, generate computer reports, and process written records on a timely basis.


Skills and Talents:

  • Decision making problem solving in a manufacturing environment with minimal supervision.
  • Use of hand tools and machinery is required.
  • Requires written and oral communication skills and the cognitive ability to learn the safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Learn, comprehend and implement Lock Out/Tag Out and safety and quality procedures to assure the safe and proper operation of the equipment.
  • Use of measurement devices.

Physical Demands &Working Environment:

  • Must be able to move/lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Seasonal high temperatures and humidity.
  • Fast pace with productivity goals.
  • Work in a team environment.


Required Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid state driver’s license.
  • Be able to work a 12-hour shift which may include holidays, dayshift, nightshift, and overtime as required by your supervisor.

o Dayshift 6 am-6:30 pm

o Nightshift 6 pm – 6:30 am

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and related experience and/or training.
  • Good computer skills.
