The S&P System Administrator serves under the direct supervision of the Director of Procurement and plays a key role in the strategic design, maintenance, continuous improvement, and implementation of all systems related to Sourcing & Procurement at Boston University.


Major duties of this position include:

  • Provide input on the strategic design roadmap for all department systems
    • In partnership with IS&T/BUworks architecture, maintain map of all current systems, performance expectations, interdependencies, and interfaces
    • Keep abreast of individual product lifecycles for current systems, upgrades in functionality, support packs, and sunset horizon
  • Perform all short- and long-term maintenance activities to keep all systems operating at peak efficiency.
    • Perform all aspects of systems administration to maximize system productivity for the Requisitioner community, suppliers S&P and A/P staff.
  • Operate with a continuous improvement mindset to deliver customer requirements, drive innovation, and meet SLAs.
  • Serve as the client lead, working in partnership with IS&T, on implementation efforts for new systems (when applicable).
    • Influence the design and delivery of training and department communications to ensure system users are efficiently and effectively utilizing S&P systems.



Required Skills
  • B.A./B.S. in IT administration, Business, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience (5+ years with a Masters degree) with demonstrated proficiency in:
    • In-depth knowledge of Procurement and Contracting processes
    • Advanced public speaking, written and interpersonal communication skills
    • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage concurrent projects with multiple stakeholders
    • Ability to lead with vision and motivate others
    • Professionalism, good judgment, and integrity
  • Detail oriented, demonstrating accuracy and quality of work output
  • Ability to work optimally and collaboratively in a small, collegial team environment
  • Self-motivated, proactive, intellectually curious

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in a Sourcing & Procurement function with exposure to a relevant eProcurement system, such as SAP Ariba.
