SOS Testing Strategist

Position Summary
Safely Opening Schools (SOS) is a project of the Public Health Institute to support high-needs CA schools' safer reopening by applying a routine rapid antigen testing model both in 10 pilot school districts across California and in priority schools identified by the California Department of Education (CDE) and by SOS in partnership with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). We are looking for someone with healthcare experience and/or experience working in schools to join the SOS Program as an SOS Testing Strategist.

This position is based in California and is remote, reporting to the SOS Senior Trainer. It requires some travel and availability/willingness to provide onsite training to program participating School Districts. Ideally the candidate has received a COVID19 vaccination. Candidates with immediate availability are preferred.

This is a time-limited position expected to last for 3-6 months.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide virtual and on-site training and support to SOS priority school districts in coordination with CDPH.
  • Support the SOS training program, working with the SOS Senior Trainer and SOS Team.
  • Work with SOS Senior Trainer to develop and manage the SOS training curriculum, materials and online training platform.
  • Develop strong relationships and testing workflow strategies with SOS partners including the California Department of Public Health, California Department of Education, school districts and other key stakeholders.
  • Implement a "Train the Trainer" model that School Districts and other Trainers can use to replicate and scale.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications
  • At least five years' experience working as a school nurse, working in education, or working as a public health nurse is desirable. Five years' experience in testing programs or other relevant health professions will also be considered.
  • Experience with training in a group setting and training/teaching virtually and experience putting together lesson plans and training materials is preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent relationship building and people skills.
  • Solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Comfort working with technology systems such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, and other current technology.
  • Must be willing and able to work across California including travel within the state to provide onsite training in schools.

    Education
  • Bachelor's degree is required, or you can substitute it with four years additional experience.
  • Master's degree or health profession training is desirable.
