Job Description: Obsolete Goods Destruction Operator/Sorter
Reports to: Plant Manager
Job Summary
Unload and process obsolete or damaged items to ensure they are securely processed and emptied. The liquids are collected, and the containers are sorted and recycled. Any contaminants are removed from the containers to ensure that they can be effectively recycled. Corrugated packaging and plastic wrap are removed and segregated for recycling.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Learn & complete the safe operation of the Gaylord tipper (including all safety procedures and where the emergency stop is located)
- Learn & complete safe operation of the processing equipment (Green Max, REM, & SCOT)
- Clean and maintain the processing equipment and work area, daily.
- Maintain the area around the loading area daily.
- Ensure that liquid holding containers are frequently monitored, diverted properly, and not overfilled.
- Work with and cooperate with all fellow employees, to ensure that material is being recorded, documented, and processed as expected.
- Materials that are received in the facility can NOT be removed, sold, or consumed.

Job Training, Qualifications, and Requirements:
- Must be a skilled individual who safely & efficiently operates equipment.
- If required to operate a forklift they must pass (and maintain in good standing) a forklift training/safety course and complete all required daily maintenance/check sheets.
- Must be active and self-motivated to keep the machine running at full capacity, keep the area clean and organized.
- Ability to work well with others, as well as take instruction from your supervisor.

- Exhibit good attendance habits. Strive to be at work every scheduled workday unless prevented from doing so for viable reasons of health. If a health condition creates an unavoidable absence preventing an employee from coming to work for the day, the employee is required to call in to report the illness and absence before the start of their shift.

In the instance of an unavoidable tardy/late start, the employee is required to either previously obtain permission for the tardy/late start or call in to report the tardy/late start to the H/R office.
- Exhibit good work habits; avoid early departures. Strive to be present and productive until the scheduled shift end of each workday. If an early quit is required and unavoidable, the employee is required to notify and obtain permission for that early quit.
