    Position Overview:
    1.0 FTE Special Education Teaching position to teach social skills and behavior management techniques, working with students at Westwood Schools working with students in grades 5-8. The position will primarily be working with Autsism Spectrum Disorders and Emotional Behavioral Disorders. This role will begin in the 2022/2023 school year.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
    • Develop and provide direct social, emotional, and behavior instruction.
    • Conduct formative assessment, and monitor progress, to guide instructional planning.
    • Conduct social, emotional, and behavioral assessments as part of triannual special education evaluations.
    • Consult with general and special education staff.
    • Maintain student records of services provided.
    • Participate in IEP and evaluation summary meetings.
    • Perform other related duties, as assigned.


    Experience:

    Previous experience or willingness to work with students struggling with behavior management. Additional knowledge or experience with due process/assessments/methods and current trends in the field of behavior interventions and support.

    Qualifications:
    • Must have current Minnesota EBD, Autism or ABS teaching license.
    • Experience in developing and providing direct social, emotional and behavioral instruction.
    • Experience implementing strategies for improving social skills.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds weight (and/or up to adult-size body weight with two-to-three person lift).
    • Experience with standardized assessment tools.
    • Knowledge of Special Education Due Process procedures.
    • Ability to effectively collaborate.
    • Ability to communicate with parent/guardian and team members.


    Licensing Requirements:

    Must have current Minnesota EBD, Autism or ABS teaching license.
