Job Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director for Marketing and Communications, the Specialist will promote enrollment and general engagement growth by expanding the digital footprint of the College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) on key social media platforms and by effectively marketing key priorities to targeted audiences online. The Specialist will work closely with the Executive Director (ED) and Assistant Director (AD) to facilitate targeted content generation and dissemination in support of the Strategic Areas of Focus.
Essential Functions
Working with the Marketing and Communications team as well as with other Drexel University and CCI stakeholders, the Specialist’s essential functions include:
- Creates and manages the editorial calendar for social media and digital advertising, organized by Strategic Area of Focus with the supervision of the Executive Director and the collaboration of the AD,
- Creates original social media and advertising content, including text, graphics, video, audio, and photography, as approved by the AD or ED
- Manages CCI’s social media presence on all appropriate channels (currently including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn), including internal and external submissions and requests, and responds to public feedback as necessary and appropriate.
- Participates in translating Web content to social media platforms and CCI’s TV display system (REACH).
- With the AD, assigns content creation to others (e.g. freelancers, students, co-ops)
- With ED and AD, creates a program that appropriately leverages and maximizes student involvement in CCI’s social media strategy. Creates monthly data reports that not only reflect activity on social media accounts but that also interpret that data in terms of ROI/growth.
- Pro-actively researches a wide range of social media platforms, both domestic and international, where CCI can execute an expanded inbound (“pull”) marketing strategy with target audiences as well as new ones; participates in the creation of website assets that will be featured in this strategy.
- Manages the Marketing and Communications team’s relationship University Marketing and Communications’ social media team, including creation of content for posting on Drexel University’s social media channels, following an agreed-upon editorial calendar
- Writes and edits content for Web, social media, and digital marketing campaigns for PPC, display, social (in coordination with external vendors, as necessary). Projects may include sponsored content, billboards, digital advertisements, etc.
- Manages the relationship with CCI’s advertising vendor for graduate programs, analyzes data reports, and recommends changes to strategy/tactics to the ED.
- Coordinates marketing video, photography, and multimedia projects to enhance publications and/or Web presence. Assist in video storyboarding and editing as needed
- Supports Assistant Director in updating, correcting, and creating content for website.
- As necessary, assists providing marketing and promotional support for CCI events including Open Houses, Commencement, Hackathon, etc
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, English, Journalism, Marketing, communications or related field
- A minimum of 3 years professional experience
Other Requirements
- Strong communications, creative thinking, and writing skills.
- Expertise in social media platforms and a passion for digital communications is a must.
- Photography/video experience is highly desirable.
- Graphic design background a plus.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is preferred but not required.
