We are seeking Snow & Ice Road Monitors in the Richmond, VA district. We are looking for local talent on an as needed basis during the winter months. The Richmond District Interstate Maintenance Office (IMO) is looking for Snow & Ice Road Monitors to supplement our existing VDOT All Hands Staff during inclement winter weather events this upcoming season under the Statewide Maintenance Consultant Service Contract. The Richmond District IMO covers I64 in New Kent, Henrico and Goochland counties, I95 in Greenville, Sussex, Prince George, Chesterfield, Henrico, Hanover counties and Cities of Petersburg, Colonial Heights and Richmond, I85 in Dinwiddie, Brunswick and Mecklenburg counties, I195 in the City of Richmond, I295 in Prince George, Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico Counties, Route 76 in Chesterfield County, Route 150 in Chesterfield and Henrico counties, Route 195 in City of Richmond & Route 288 in Chesterfield, Powhatan and Goochland counties. This is not a full-time position but as needed as inclement weather is forecast. Minimum requirements are that road monitors must have some experience with snow and ice operations, able to direct contractors and document contractor’s performance and time; ability to access & track contractors time via electronic timesheets either with a smartphone, tablet or laptop computer; ability to work 12 to 14 hours shifts either during day or night to include weekends and holidays until event has ceased; be able on short notice to mobilize to assigned area. Each monitor will need to come with a vehicle with amber light, smartphone (& tablet or laptop if smartphone cannot access electronic timesheets) and standard PPE.
