JOB SUMMARY
The Small Engine Mechanic manages the small engine repair shop within a Rural King store. This person processes all work orders for customer repairs, services and repairs equipment, orders parts, and files warranty claims.
JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide high-quality repair services on all work orders
- Initiate outstanding sales and service on all work orders
- Ensure exceptional safety of equipment & tools as well as cleanliness of the shop
- Responsible for completing all warranty paperwork in a timely manner
- Responsible for special order parts for all work orders
- Responsible for completing service work in a timely manner
- Provide safe environment by keeping work areas clean & organized
- Use general mechanic equipment
- May be required to cross train and perform other duties
QUALIFICATIONS
- Expert mechanical abilities in small engine, diesel, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to work independently without supervision
- Ability to access and use the in-store computer, scanning system, and wireless handheld unit
- Ability to participate in our online applicant and new hire onboarding process remotely
- Ability to complete computer-based training
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Good visual acuity and close vision for computer work
- Ability to lift, push, and/or pull a minimum of 30 pounds repetitively
- Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time
- Ability to use a ladder and/or pallet jack
- Repetitive wrist movements on keyboard
- Ability to walk up and down stairs multiple times per day
- Ability to verbally communicate effectively and professionally with all audiences (in-person or via handheld transceiver)
