I Accountability Objectives:
Provides support for the Diagnostic Radiology Supervisor over a broad range of responsibilities. He/she will function
as a staff technologist and mammography technologist with primary QC/QA responsibilities in the Mercy Women’s
Care Center. He/she will monitor technical activities, provide general directions and support for area technologists.
He/she must be self motivated, use independent judgment and be able to work with minimum supervision.

II Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education, Licensure / Certification and Experience Required.
A. Education
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Associate Degree in Allied Health, Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Completion of CAHEA approved school of radiologic technology.

B. Licensure / Certification
  • Registered by the ARRT(R)&(M)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Acquire 15 mammography continuing education credits for a three year period.

C Special Skill / Aptitudes
  • Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of
hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.

D. Experience
  • Four years experience as a registered diagnostic radiologic technologist.


III Duties / Responsibilities:


He/she will be expected to maintain compliance with existing policies and procedures for the Hospital,
Mercy Women’s Care Center and the Department of Radiology.

The Lead Diagnostic Radiology Technologist will provide a general level of technical and managerial
direction to technologists and ancillary personnel in the Mercy Women’s Care Center.

Perform functions o 3 f a mammographer.

He/she will monitor work flow, respond to STAT requests and assist attending physicians with special needs
as necessary.

May be required to modify work assignments as necessary to respond to changing demands.

Will act as an immediate recourse to technical staff regarding protocols, equipment set-up, and assist with
difficult patients or procedures.

He/she reports work activity to supervisor or, in her absence, to the administrative director.

Maintains a positive rapport with radiologists, referring physicians and subordinate personnel.

Must be able to act quickly in response to the critical needs of patients, physicians, and technologists.

Oversee call back patients are properly contacted.

Involvement with pertinent committees in the hospital that relate to women’s health.

He/she may be designated to do and oversee, specific quality control functions and/or will review quality
control activities completed by staff technologists of Mercy Women’s Care Center.

Assists in preparation of accreditation/reaccreditation of authorization applications.

Participates in MQSA/State inspections.

Assess equipment operations and report problems to supervisor. May be required to arrange for service
when problems cannot be resolved with on-site personnel.


He/she may be asked to provide input in evaluations of technical staff for the Mercy Women’s Care Center.

This individual may be asked to assist the supervisor in the preparation and modification of job descriptions
for technical personnel.

This individual will be responsible for training and verifying staff competence on all equipment and
procedures.

This individual participates in problem solving for the Mercy Women’s Care Center

Acts as a resource for other Diagnostic personnel regarding equipment and operational problems

Participates in department meetings, in-service programs, quality assurance program as they relate to the
Mercy Women’s Care Center.

Order and/or assure availability of supplies as needed for the Mercy Women’s Care Center.

Maintains adequate supplies for area and works closely with the Diagnostic Supervisor in the ordering of
supplies.

Works closely with the Supervisor and Radiologist in the evaluation of new products


This individual will either complete or direct others regarding the use of film badge dosimeter.

to the unit. Requests services for maintaining equipment as needed.

In accordance with unit or departmental practice, proficient with the electronic health records for
documentation, assessment, and care management, performing these activities concurrently with provision of
care throughout the shift.
