JOB TITLE: SHOP FOREMAN - METALS

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

JOB STATUS: FULL TIME


JOB PURPOSE:

Provides technical support to ensure production goals of the organization are met. Provides leadership related to Metals Production resources (staff and equipment) to sustain daily operations of the Department. May suggest or implement equipment purchases, modifications or calibration changes that could result in improved productivity or reduced costs related to production. Will report to Director of Operations and collaborate with Supervisors, Leads, and Operators.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Uphold the Tool Gauge fundamentals in all aspects of job performance.
  • Manage day-to-day operation of Metals CNC Department.
  • Troubleshoot Metals Operation processes to obtain optimal process parameters.
  • Ensure cycle times, yield, part quality, and deliverables meet or exceed company strategies to reduce overall production costs.
  • Oversee Department Leads, Machinists, Assembly, and Shipping on all Shifts.
  • Create all PM entries for new equipment in Unipoint outlining maintenance tasks and frequencies to be performed by Facilities and Maintenance team.
  • Develop team members through training or education to increase skill levels and job knowledge.
  • Collaborate with Scheduling and Customer Service to deliver according to commitment dates.
  • Make recommendations for proper staffing levels to maintain current workload.
  • Perform performance reviews for direct reports according to Tool Gauge review process.
  • Support production-based KPI measurements.
  • Research and recommend upgrades to work spaces, equipment, technology.
  • Explore opportunities for Automation in Production Environment.
  • Assist Director of Operations in decisions regarding hiring, termination, and discipline of direct reports.


NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Understand and support Department budget objectives in terms of spending and overtime.
  • Understanding of Lean and 5S. Able to participate on Improvement Projects (Kaizen).


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience Setting Up and Running CNC & Manual Mills and Lathes.
  • Two (2) years of experience programming CNC machines, Mill Turns, and Lathes.
  • Three (3) years of experience working with Solidworks, Mastercam, and Esprit.
  • Seven (7) to Ten (10) years of Advanced Metal processing in terms of programming, CNC, and finish work.
