Shipping & Receiving Supervisor

Position Summary: The Shipping/Receiving Supervisor leads the site in a variety of activities including, shipping, receiving, packaging, crating and warehousing (on and offsite) of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Operates material handling equipment and follows appropriate safety standards.Job Responsibilities:- Ensures all shipping and receiving activities are in compliance with DOT/IATA and Cabot internal standards for packaging, labeling, loading, unloading and packaging. Ensures that received chemicals are safely handled and entered in site inventory.
- Responsible for domestic and international shipments, preparation of documentation, interactions with customs, freight forwarders, commercial trucking services, Fed Ex and UPS.
- Responsible for maintenance of internal warehouse staging for incoming and outgoing materials. Interact with offsite storage providers and internal customers to ship and maintain site inventory.
- Works in a safe manner. Supports and participates in SH&E programs.
- Provides excellent customer support and service to research and development organization and internal business partners.
- Ensures customers are aware of requirements for packaging materials and samples to be shipped from the site. Provide instruction and training for employees when requested/required.
- Manage shipping area and responsible for one employee.
- Support internal customers for Billerica and Boston sites.
- Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments, work closely with all carrier to resolve issues on international and domestic shipments. Generate paperwork, commercial invoices, shipping letters of instruction and state of origin for international shipments.
- Receive and QC chemical products daily, check materials into site inventory system.
- Coordinate and maintain sitewide database for offsite storage.
- Responsible for coordinating site recycling and trash dumpsters.
- Review and approve invoice for facilities vendor, reverse receipts and close purchase orders in JD Edwards.
- Identified areas for cost savings and improves site workflows; coordinated associated facilities projects.
- In charge of facility security surveillance system.
- Regularly host contractors and ensure safety by implementing Safe Work Permit procedure.
- Work with third party vendor to troubleshoot software issues that arise in in shipping area, security camera system, and access badge system.
- Other related duties as required.
Requirements:- High School diploma or equivalent
- Current DOT Hazardous Materials and IATA Dangerous Goods shipping certifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience
- Ability to maintain organized records and documentation; meet deadlines.
- Proven record of safe and effective work practices in an industrial environment.
- Trained forklift operator.
- Good interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with 5S standards for orderliness and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with inventory systems
