Title: Sheet Metal Mechanic
Status: Full-Time; Hourly; Day Shift; Not Exempt
Reports To: Plant Operations Manager
Compensation: DOE ($15 - $22.50), Eligible for Benefits, Holidays Pay, and Vacation Pay.
Requirements: Must have two (2) years of manufacturing experience, HS/GED is preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, written and verbal instructions. 1 to 4 years of sheet metal experience. Knowledge of sheet metal tools and equipment. Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills. Self-motivated, willing to accept responsibility and follow directions. Must be able to lift materials and tools up to 50lbs. Must be able to work as scheduled, mandatory overtime if necessary. Preferably bilingual in English and Spanish.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Utilize and interpret blueprints to determine how and where to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal products.
- Measure, mark dimensions and lay out material to be installed using tools such as tape measures, rulers, calculators, and squares.
- Fasten joints and seams in sheet metal with solder, welds, caulk, bolts, and metal driver clips, ensuring work is done carefully and bonds will last.
- Use hand and power tools to trim, grind, smooth, file metal surfaces and joints of parts that have been laser cut using hand tools or portable power tools to ensure safety and a seamless appearance.
- Select the appropriate type and gauge of sheet metal to be used in projects according to specifications.
- Ensure safety is a priority on the job during all activities, including using tools and installing and fabricating metal.
- Maintaining the shop and equipment used in the assembly process.
- Drill and punch holes in metal, for screws, bolts, and rivets.
- Lay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on material, such as roofing panels, according to drawings or templates, using calculators, scribes, dividers, squares, and rulers.
- Maintain equipment, making repairs or modifications when necessary.
- Finish parts, using hacksaws or hand, rotary, or squaring shears.
