Position Title: Service Technician
Location: Minot, ND
Position Summary: The Service Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining company vehicles. This position also performs inspections on machinery and equipment and maintains the shop in accordance with company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Move products between stations and shipping area as needed. Including loading and unloading of rail cars.
- Performs preventative maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotation and changes, etc on equipment, trucks, and other tools; According to the manufacturer’s requirements.
- Prepare each job in accordance with a job order or verbal/written instructions.
- Perform inspection of completed product in accordance with company quality standards.
- Prepare finished products for shipment in accordance with company procedures.
- Report problems or discrepancies to Shop & Transportation Manager immediately.
- Operate shop equipment and machinery in accordance with safety requirements.
- Notify Shop & Transportation Manager of equipment malfunctions.
- Read and load customer orders for delivery by reviewing delivery ticket to confirm that all products are assigned.
- Load and unload delivery vehicles to include lifting and arranging products according to assigned deliveries.
- Ensure proper maintenance of delivery and fleet vehicles as well as forklifts, loaders and other shop equipment to include checking oil and fuel, keeping neat and clean, minor repairs and reporting all damages/malfunctions to the Shop & Transportation Manager.
- Fabricates repair parts, trucks and trailers by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Report problems to supervisor in a timely and accurate manner and follow-up to ensure problem resolutions.
- Provides accurate accident, safety and various other related reporting as required.
- Performs and assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be required by immediate supervisor.
- Employee must demonstrate safe work and risk management practices. Communicate and enforce all safety and security issues. Report and process all employee and/or customer incidents or unsafe acts in accordance with SPF Energy’s policy and procedure.
- Ensures that confidentiality of data collected and stored is maintained.
- Employee is expected to set priorities and meet deadlines. Employee is responsible for planning and carrying out assignments, resolving conflicts that arise, informing and coordinating with others as expected. Employee is accountable for insuring the technical accuracy of their work and maintaining good working relations, both internal and external to SPF Energy. Self-direction and motivation are also expected.
- Must meet performance expectations and complete all duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Must be able to obtain Forklift certification
- Knowledge of fuel, heating and oil and/or lubricant industry preferred
- Diesel Mechanic certifications preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 0-3 years of mechanical experience working with heavy duty trucks and equipment
- The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations
