Cape Fox Corporation - Commercial Services - Ketchikan, AK

Employment Type : Full-Time

The role of the Server is to support the Director of Food and Beverage and work with the rest of the front-of-house staff. it our main lodge or one of our 6 other locations on the island. Servers will be responsible for providing an enjoyable experience for the guests and be the main point of communication with the kitchen and bar. They engage in friendly conversation with their tables to make them feel comfortable and provide a hospitable environment, delivering food on time and at the correct temperature. Maintaining cleanliness in the restaurant is pivotal, along with correcting any issues with meals.
Duties Include:

  • Check patrons' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
  • Take orders from patrons for food or beverages and enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff
  • Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems
  • Serve food or beverages to patrons and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required using a serving tray and tray stand
  • Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes; collect payments from customers
  • Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters and take them to the kitchen for cleaning
  • Present menus to patrons and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request
  • Inform customer of daily specials
  • Clean tables or counters after patrons have finished dining
  • Prepare hot, cold, and mixed drinks for patrons, and chill bottles of wine
  • Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware
  • Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, dressings, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts and brewing coffee
  • Clean and maintain areas and items in the restaurant, bar, and banquet rooms
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Customer oriented, friendly, and energetic
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
  • Food Handlers Certification
  • TAPS Certification
  • Must be legally able to serve alcohol
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior work experience is a plus
  • Authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
