Summary: The Sr. Warehouse Supervisor reports to the Sr. Warehouse Manager in helping lead, direct and manage warehouse shipping supervisors. Assist in creating work schedules to optimize the use of personnel, equipment, and other resources to address daily, weekly and monthly workloads. The Sr. Warehouse Supervisor takes direction from the Sr. Warehouse Manager to assist with overseeing the supervisory staff to achieve KPIs and departmental goals. This may include on-time outbound schedules, through-put measurements of selectors, forklifts, and loaders. Working with the staff for continuous improvements of selection methods and product placement for optimal productivity. The Sr. Warehouse Supervisor also ensures Supervisory compliance with certifications, wage/hour laws, union rules and regulations, local state and Federal food safety regulations and OSHA compliance. The Sr. Warehouse Supervisor partners with the Shipping Supervisors to review weekly and monthly budgeted and financial reports to measure productivity and cost containment. Possess and applies interpersonal skills to motivate Supervisors to meet productivity requirements and informs the Sr. Warehouse Manager of any corrective actions needed to ensure DPI productivity requirements are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Sr. Warehouse Manager in providing oversight to the Warehouse Shipping Supervisors in order to ensure shipping/receiving KPI’s are met and achieved within budgeted throughput.
  • Partner with warehouse shipping supervisors to oversee the weekly workforce schedule in order to manage daily operational demands. Ensure employee training and the monitoring of individual employee productivity levels are being conducted by the supervisors.
  • Assist the Sr. Warehouse Manager to motivate the work force by mentoring the supervisors in the utilization of interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Generate and validate reports used to monitor operations, report on objectives, through-puts and KPI’s according to DPI protocols and procedures.
  • Protect DPI’s physical assets by monitoring and verifying operation of various systems or departments, including facility security systems and alarm status; ensure visitors are controlled and monitored through the use of badges and chaperones; maintain facility cleanliness.
  • Ensures supervisors oversee overall product integrity by verifying product temperatures, refrigeration, inspection of product for damage; and control of rodents and pests in all food storage areas.
  • Supports the Sr. Warehouse Manager and the warehouse Safety Team by enforcing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) use by all warehouse staff and associates; assuring compliance with OSHA and union rules and regulations; and monitoring compliance with local, State and Federal food handling regulations.
  • Participates in grievance meetings with the union.
  • Participates in interviewing candidates for Supervisor, Clerk, and Selector positions.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides supervisory feedback and shared best practices.
  • Leads/facilitates production plan meetings with the staff.
  • Ensures supervisors are handling their daily Dayforce review, operational tasks, and administering employee disciplinary actions involving attendance points or employee related matters with Human Resources. The operational tasks will include production observations, safety observations, production audits, and Lucas & Argent management up-keeping.
  • Maintains clean work environment, may include picking up trash or cleaning spills.
  • Other duties may be assigned to fulfill DPI’s objectives.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The employee must have proficient knowledge of English and basic math skills. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A college degree is preferred. The employee must have prior supervisory roles and a minimum of 8 years’ experience in food distribution or a related field or combination of college and experience. The employee must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Oracle or AS400 experience is preferred, and the employee must be proficient in use of Oracle or AS400 at DPI within 90 days of hire. Must be able to operate powered industrial trucks (forklifts) and able to be certified by DPI. Must be able to meet requirements to be a powered industrial truck (PIT) trainer and be able to certify employees.

Work Environment: The work environment is typically indoors. The employee on occasion will perform outside work and would be exposed to local weather conditions. The floors may be concrete in the warehouse, vinyl or carpet on the interior and cement or asphalt outside. Moderate noise levels occur in the warehouse with powered industrial truck horns operating for safety.
Work Hours: The work schedule is either 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, or 4 days a week, 10 hours a day. Start times vary. Work hours and shifts are subject to change depending on operating business conditions and needs. The employee may be required to work overtime, holidays or weekends.
Must be available at all times and shifts to respond to emergencies as a first responder.

Physical and Mental Demands: Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently. This job also requires frequent standing and walking. Frequent use of the upper extremities is required to reach, handle, grasp and use tools, equipment, and manipulate product. The employee must know and follow proper office and safety and security protocols, including first responder duties and emergency procedures; know and follow DPI grooming, hygiene and dress code standards; able to train and certify employees to operate powered industrial trucks and other equipment; able to accurately and timely generate reports on operations and labor activity using Microsoft Office and Oracle applications.

Supervisory Responsibilities: The Sr. Warehouse Supervisor oversees the operations of the warehouse and has oversight of the Supervisors and employees associated with the processes of product shipping and receiving. The Sr. Warehouse Supervisor will not have any management direct reports.
