POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior SQL Server Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining, administering and ensuring the security and stability of InMoment’s SQL Server implementations.

Duties include analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving complex problems involving databases, operating systems and applications. This position requires participation in the development, deployment and support of infrastructure and technology solutions, both from an architectural and operational perspective. This also requires advanced level knowledge and application of High Availability technologies including FCI and Availability Groups. The DBA is challenged to work with architects, application development and operations to help achieve a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future needs.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical guidance during all phases of database related development process
  • Work with vendors in evaluating and implementing new technologies
  • Present technical information to peers and project teams
  • Support other technology and automation projects
  • Database installation, configuration, patching, monitoring, maintenance and version upgrades
  • Problem isolation, root cause analysis and solution implementation
  • Provide technical support, on call and excellent customer service
  • Work closely with management, developers, project managers, technical staff and end-users to ensure successful project implementation and deliverables
  • Database solution design, performance monitoring, analysis and tuning
  • Backup, recovery and DR testing and planning
  • Develop, implement and enforce procedures, security policies, standards and best practices to support the operation of database systems
  • Ensure high availability and optimum performance of database systems
  • Installing and maintaining Failover Clustered Instances and Availability Groups for HA and scale-out reads.
  • Clustering, SSIS, data transfers, replication, TSQL
  • Research and test new database technologies, share knowledge
  • Determine database structural requirements, analyze client operations, applications, review objectives with clients, evaluate current systems
  • Be the subject matter expert for all database related projects and initiatives
  • Remain current with emerging technologies and suggest adoption when appropriate

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of SQL DBA experience using SQL Server 2008 all the way through to SQL 2019, supporting large-scale production systems with multiple TB of data and providing technical expertise
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
  • Experience standing up and supporting large MS-SQL Clusters and Availability Groups
  • Knowledge and understanding the use of Query Store for tuning, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Work independently and as a team member
  • Manage and prioritize multiple assignments, projects and requests
  • Be flexible and work analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Excellent organizational, time-management skills and attitude
  • Self motivated, process/quality oriented with attention to detail
  • Results-oriented nature and a desire to provide excellent customer service
  • Strong research, analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Programming experience in addition to the other experience is a plus
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
