This is very responsible professional civil engineering work of a supervisory nature with responsibility for Water/Wasterwater and/or Stormwater capital improvement projects, including the planning, investigation, location, design and construction of major, complex municipal engineering and public works programs. Work involves applying professional and technical engineering skills and knowledge to perform difficult projects and to produce creative engineering solutions; developing and coordinating construction of projects, including the review of designs and drawings, making necessary adjustments to stay on schedule, supervision of staff to make preliminary layouts and surveys, and addressing any administrative or technical problems. Work requires lead supervisory responsibility over other technical and professional employees assigned to specific projects; the exercise of considerable judgment and initiative; the application of professional engineering knowledge in evaluating the cost effectiveness, safety and practicality of construction methods; and providing technical support for all activities, such as preparation of plans, specifications and technical reports.
