ABOUT MCS:
Founded in 1892, Marietta City Schools uniquely balances rich tradition and bold innovation. In partnership with families and the community, we prepare each student to maximize career, college, and life opportunities. Located in Cobb County, Georgia, and serving students who reside within the city limits of Marietta, we are one of Georgia’s first Charter Systems and first International Baccalaureate (IB) World School Districts. The 1,200 employees of Marietta City Schools serve approximately 8,900 students in 12 schools: one early learning center, seven K-grade 5 elementary schools, one grade 3-5 magnet school, one sixth grade academy, one middle school, and one high school. Marietta City Schools represents a diverse student body—about 38 percent Hispanic, 37 percent African American, 20 percent White—with approximately 60 percent of our students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. Nine of our 12 schools are Title I. Our small size affords us the rare ability to be both nimble and innovative as a public school district. With the help of talented staff, engaged families, and strong community partners, we are dedicated to providing safe, welcoming, and affirming spaces for all students.
