Status: Full-time, exempt
Salary: An amount in the beginning of the pay range, $62,000 - $64,000 annually.

Location: Work from home flexible, 2-3 days/week in-person. Primarily based out of our Denver office at 711 Park Ave W, Denver, CO 80205 COVID-19 Vaccination: In order to protect the health and safety of our staff and the communities we serve, Mile High United Way requires employees, including some designated remote workers, to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination, or submit to weekly testing, or receive a medical or religious exemption.
How You'll Help
As a member of the Evaluation and Learning team, this position will be responsible for leading multiple internal program evaluation efforts and leading the research and analysis necessary to support strategic programmatic and organizational decisions. Additionally, this position will help lead development of strategy and operationalization of programs. Using a developmental evaluation and community engagement approach with an equity lens, this position works across the organization to support program strategy and development, evaluate programs and initiatives, use data to inform decision-making, present data findings to external audiences, including the wider evaluation field, and facilitate learning discussions to inform program decision-making. The Senior Manager will lead external partnerships in capacity building efforts and consultant projects. The Senior Manager will supervise the Evaluation and Learning Coordinator.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead multiple evaluation strategies and initiatives for Mile High United Way programs in partnership with program teams.
- Lead the development and implementation of data-driven learning sessions with programs teams to inform program assessment and improvement.
- Lead and partner with Mile High United Way internal program teams to implement needs assessments, measurement frameworks, selection of data collection tools, data collection tool implementation, data management systems, data interpretation, and data utilization.
- Lead and support the further development and refinement of program strategies, as guided by the evaluation data and best practices.
- Lead the operationalization and measurement of cross-collaborative practices that ensure clients receive all necessary services from Mile High United Way.
- Supervise the E&L Coordinator position, ensuring placement on appropriate projects to support the Evaluation & Learning team's efforts.
- Support Mile High United Way internal programs on developing programmatic materials based on research and best-practices.
- Develop data collection tools and protocols, support data collection, and analyze and present evaluation findings.
- Manage development of data collection processes, procedures, and systems to ensure high data quality, including coordinating with Salesforce developers to ensure data systems meet programmatic needs and produce relevant program reports/dashboards within Salesforce systems.
- Develop program evaluation tools, such as theories of change, journey maps, project management plans, evaluation plans, landscape analyses, GIS mapping.
- Lead and facilitate evaluation capacity building efforts with external partners as it relates to the development of data, programmatic, and evaluation processes.
- Provide comprehensive assistance with the production of grant reports and deliverables, including the synthesis of evaluation methods, analyses, and findings.
- Develop community research protocols and support the implementation of strategies, including the involvement of community members to inform research and program development.
- Conduct ongoing research and analysis to help inform promising practices and development of evaluation strategies and tools to be used internally.
- Lead recruitment and management of external consultants for evaluation and research projects, including at times working with a consultant on a project.
- Develop public evaluation and research products, such as reports, data briefs, or white papers to share new knowledge with external audiences.
- Coordinates with Resource Development and Marketing to appropriately develop messaging of data and programs for presentations, reports, and other collateral materials.
- Facilitate and manage the development of data sharing agreements with external partners.
- Review data and evaluation sections of contracts and grant agreements before they are signed.
- Support the grants team in writing relevant evaluation and outcome portions of grants. ensuring data systems are appropriately designed and developed to meet grant requirements, and compiling data for relevant grant reports.
What You'll Need: Education, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent level of experience; Master's Degree in a social sciences or human services field (e.g., Social Work, Public Health, Anthropology, Public Administration, Psychology) preferred
- Minimum 5 years related experience in evaluation, research and/or strategic learning for improvement.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in designing and implementing research or evaluation projects, analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, facilitating data-driven discussions to inform program planning and improvement, and presenting evaluation results to diverse audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to support others in project planning.
- Possesses an evaluative thinking mindset, which reflects a belief in the value of data, inquisitiveness, posing thoughtful questions, identifying assumptions, and pursuing deeper understanding through learning and reflection.
- Demonstrated ability to work professionally, independently, and as part of a team in order to manage multiple tasks, set own goals and establish priorities in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to changes such as within workflows, technology/software solutions and organizational needs, effectively conceptualizing and developing new processes when applicable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate evaluation concepts and findings to a variety of audiences.
- Commitment to an equity lens in internal and external practices.
- An understanding of using data for decision making, supporting a learning culture, and promoting evaluation capacity internally and externally.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, receptivity to others' ideas and an established history of engaging in a collaborative approach are mandatory.
- Problem solving with creativity and vision, ethics, a strong sense of accountability, courage, and the willingness to learn and teach others.
Computer Skills:
- Microsoft Office applications, project management tools, ability to work with a variety of databases, especially in manipulating data in Excel.
- Experience building reports and dashboards in Salesforce preferred but not required.
- Experience with Tableau or other data visualization software preferred but not required.
- Experience with SPSS and/or NVivo or other quantitative and qualitative data software preferred but not required.
