Our growing firm seeks an experienced Senior Interior Designer/Project Manager who will oversee and hands-on manage the completion of a project from start to finish. The role is about 80% focused on project management and 20% design. They will set up, track, organize, monitor, problem solve and complete the project per time and budget specifications while providing design input and interacting with clients and other constituents. Essential Job Functions and Key Tasks

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work with principal (e.g., designer) on job concept and goals for project
  • Work with principal on design ideas and concepts
  • Work with key constituents (e.g., contractors) to create realistic schedule/timeline of job to ensure all parties have same expectations on progress of work being completed
  • Responsible for consistent, timely and regular communication with all clients on progress of jobs with quick response and follow through
  • Lead or attend status meeting for each project
  • Lead or attend weekly site visits, as needed
  • Create and maintain a monthly calendar of projects and action steps
  • Adjust schedules and targets on the project as needed
  • Order with economies of scale, quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness in mind
  • Confirm pricing, check stock, lead time, etc.
  • Place orders in an accurate, efficient, cost-effective manner
  • Develop all purchase orders and manage the details for ordering through to installation
  • Source materials & obtain samples as needed (e.g., tile, stone, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, appliances, fabrics, etc.
  • Review all orders for correct pricing, sales tax, and profitability
  • Track project tasks per project schedule and update software and status report on daily basis
  • Call vendors and workrooms to follow up on orders
  • Identify potential issues that may delay the project and take proactive steps to resolve them (e.g., shipping: such as delays in manufacturing or out of stock status)
  • Notify principal of problems with proposed solutions, solve problem, and keep team informed
  • Track orders and notify client of items that are back-ordered or discontinued
  • Make adjustments to purchase order and product plan as required
  • Enter and track billable time in project management software
  • Inspect each product delivered for quality and that they meet client specifications
  • Process returns if damaged items come in
  • Coordinate pickups and deliveries with vendors once items are complete, confirm all orders get from Point A to B, and make arrangements for client installs
  • Organize items with vendors, staff and contractors for client installation day
  • Oversee product installation on site
  • Conduct weekly site visits to ensure everything is on schedule
  • Create and maintain project budget
  • Facilitate payment of orders/invoices related to project
  • Initiate requests to pay vendors, subcontractors as needed
  • Communicate with principal/designer on any significant issues that arise and solve problems quicky as a team
  • Communicate with internal team on progress of jobs
  • Conduct weekly contractor and subcontractor check-ins for each project
  • Conduct weekly client check-ins and email updates for each project
  • Address issues that arise, take initiative and ownership, and work to create a solution
  • Professionally represent the firm’s values, upholding its positive reputation and status

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years (preferably 4-6 years) of experience as a Senior Interior Designer and/or Project Manager at a high-end, luxury residential design firm
  • High-end design experience with polished design aesthetic and portfolio
  • Must have managed multiple projects at the same time with many moving parts and details requiring follow up
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture a plus
  • Project management skills
  • Knowledge in architectural plans/specifications
  • Proficiency with Studio Designer or similar software
  • Must have worked with project management software such as Harvest or similar
  • Proficient with MS Word and Excel
  • Must be able to travel to client installations locally and in out of state locations
  • Must have reliable transportation and a reasonable commute to office located in Greenwich, CT
  • Must be physically able to perform various installation project requirements such as lifting, standing for long periods, using a ladder, and other physical duties

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
