The Senior Driver Specialist is part of the Distribution Services team and perform all warehousing functions, when required, to fulfill warehousing operations at a facility. This job implements productive processes that support both ISO standards and cGMP guidelines. This position also requires meeting Logistic requirements for compliance with all local, state, and DOT regulations, and to comply with those regulations while performing their assigned duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Be safe by understanding and using the safety processes and procedures outlined in the ThermoFisher Scientific Safety Center.
  • Always operates Company motor vehicles professionally and safely in compliance with all local traffic laws, state rules and regulations, and DOT regulations.
  • To perform both pre-trip & post-trip inspections of each vehicle operated, and to report both verbally and in writing (DVCR), any potential safety/mechanical issue to the Site Manager, Group Lead or Designee immediately.
  • Follows any special instructions given orally, or in writing, by the Site Manager, Group Lead or Designee and determines the best sequence to deliver their assigned stops, and to complete their workload in the most efficient and cost-effective manner, while meeting ThermoFisher Scientific customer requirements.
  • Ensures all material on their assigned route is accounted for, and their paperwork is correct.
  • Ensures that the vehicle is properly placarded, loaded, and all material and equipment is always secured from movement, and in compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Obtains a “Proof of Delivery” signature from all delivered customers and returns the signed (POD) Bill of Lading to the Company to keep on file.
  • Comply with PCS safety policies and procedures in the warehouse by executing the safety training and accident preparedness. Bring potential safety issues to the attention of the Warehouse or Group Lead and/or Site Manager.
  • Accurately perform material handling processes required to receive, store, pick and ship material.
  • Accurately perform the receiving inspections of inbound shipments and storage of products in designated warehouse locations.
  • Accurately perform order picking functions and prepare orders for shipment including required inspections of sales order and shipping manifest.
  • Learn and execute ISO 9001 Quality System Procedures and Work Instructions and cGMP guidelines related to this position’s duties and responsibilities.
  • Understand and support the PPI Lean Leadership tools such as Daily Management Board, 5S, Standard Work, Problem Solving and Kaizen Events. Work to continually improve the productivity of loading of truck, routing management and truck maintenance.
  • To Support Individual Career Development there is a band 4 which is a Lead Driver Warehouse Specialist within the Career Development Progression Map.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • More than 2 years of experience in Driving warehousing and material handling
  • Physical ability to perform materials handling responsibilities including sitting, standing, bending, lifting/carrying up to 50lbs, walking, pushing/pulling, driving a forklift, and operating other warehouse equipment
  • Ability to effectively interact with other disciplines within the Company such as Customer Service, Quality and Procurement.
  • HAZMAT shipping experience desirable
  • Have a “Customer Service” approach to relationships with internal and external associates
  • Class A Driver’s License with Hazmat endorsement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Forklift experience highly desirable, or must become forklift certified within 30 days of employment
  • Physical ability to perform materials handling responsibilities including sitting, standing, bending, lifting/carrying up to 50lbs, walking, pushing/pulling, driving a forklift, and operating other warehouse equipment
