Cornell Tech is leading a nationwide initiative called Break Through Tech AI that is a collaboration between higher education institutions and industry partners in selected cities around the country. The mission is to credential and fast-track undergraduate women into careers in Artificial Intelligence. Break Through Tech AI is an expansion of the Break Through Tech initiative which was launched at Cornell Tech in 2016 and is now operating in three cities around the country. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible 5-year term position with the possibility of renewal.This position requires occasional work on evenings and weekends, particularly during the academic year. The responsibilities may be completed primarily remotely during the initial employment period and would be expected to work on location on our Cornell Tech NYC campus when instruction resumes in person. Cornell Tech seeks a Senior Director of Programs who will have leadership responsibility and management oversight for the planning and delivery of all major programs as part of the initiative’s central Program Office. This individual will play a critical role in developing the strategy and operational plans for the program and for leading the oversight of the program in up to 6 cities around the country. The ideal candidate comes with experience leading complex programs with multiple academic and industry partners. More specifically, we are looking for a senior leader with a deep understanding of curriculum innovation, the culture of academic institutions, the culture of the tech industry and nature of tech jobs, and someone who is equally comfortable working in a higher education academic environment as well as collaborating with both corporate and startup executives. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience developing new program concepts as well as operationalizing those concepts at scale. This individual must be able to thrive in a dynamic and continuously evolving environment and be able to independently ‘steer the ship’ to stay on mission. The individual must have experience supervising other employees and growing as well as fostering collaboration among professional peers.
