Position Overview
As a Senior Business Systems Analyst with the Residential Lending Technology team you will work closely with product owners, product managers, senior executives, directors, colleagues and other stakeholders. You will be responsible for planning, conducting analysis and breaking down features into user stories. This involves identifying business unit requirements, evaluating business processes/systems, ensuring proper functioning and use of existing technology and recommending/implementing solutions to improve efficiency. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. You may be required to perform some scrum master or project management functions in coordinating the development, implementation and maintenance of business application systems for the Residential Lending group.
Role and Responsibilities
- Understanding the business processes and the interdependencies of various systems in use
- Facilitating interactive discussions with the business unit and technology teams in order to achieve alignment on defining requirements
- Gathering, analyzing, documenting and translating business requirements into features and user stories that can be used to design and implement solutions to meet the business objectives
- Analyzing complex system and system-related problems for the business unit and making recommendations for improvements or new designs
- Identifying potential solutions for the business and providing input into any risks and issues
- Ensuring all quality standards and techniques are followed, including compiling and publishing artifacts and deliverables of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Updating/creating user and technical documentation procedures and manuals, operational support documentation, and archival of project documentation as needed
- Lead daily stand-ups or SCRUM meetings
- Conduct effective facilitation sessions with multiple stakeholders
- Participate in testing strategy, execution, calendar, scripts, traceability matrix, defect reviews and reporting defects
- Challenge and drive the business team to decisions on requirements related to initiatives
- Assists with user acceptance testing planning and criteria specification for system and loan origination documents to meet business requirements
- Stay current with industry and system information, changes and updates
- Performs other duties & responsibilities as required or assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science or Business Management
- 8 to 10 years of experience in a Business Analyst role with demonstrated experience documenting use cases and functional requirements is required.
- Formal training in Business Analysis and Business Process Modeling is preferred, but not required
- Experience working within the PMBOK Project Management Lifecycle, SDLC, or equivalent operating model is required
- Ability to effectively lead cross-functional departments in eliciting requirements is a must
- Working Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Strong understanding of the Agile SDLC (Scrum)
- Mortgage origination/process experience is preferred
- The ability to lead, influence, communicate and interact with people of all levels across the organization and external partners as required
- An attention for detail with the ability to translate for the business or technology in order to facilitate effective collaboration
- Demonstrated proficiency with requirement and process tools (e.g. Visio, MS Project, TFS, Confluence, etc.)
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and have a strong desire to learn
- Ability to handle changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and work within tight timeframes and deadlines
- Excellent critical thinking skills, including troubleshooting, problem analysis and resolution
- Solid analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use statistical analysis and modeling
- Ability to write SQL a plus
- Effective listening skills
- Strong presentation skills with strong business acumen
