Overview

To provide secure and reliable access to district applications by designing, implementing and maintaining a security infrastructure.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer science or a technology-related field from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) years of recent Information Security administration experience in a large server environment.
  • Current Information Security certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated success working with and through people in establishing goals, objectives and action plans to produce expected results.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge and commitment to decentralized decision-making and accountability for results. Ability to interpret and enforce State Board Rules and School Board policy. Ability to work as part of a team with the staff or other departments. Ability to analyze data and effectively use problem solving skills. Ability to identify important issues or problems in area of responsibility. Ability to share ideas with others in a clear and informative manner. Must have good written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of security administration tasks, techniques and tools. Knowledge of security architectural mechanisms and components. Knowledge of Linux, UNIX, Microsoft Windows, LDAP, SAP software. Knowledge of cross-platform security issues. Knowledge of Local Area Networks/Wide Area Networks, Firewalls, IDSs, and IPSs. Knowledge of distributed processing. Knowledge of the principles and practices of project management. Skill in the use of security controls specific to the assignment.

Machines, tools, equipment, electronic devices, vehicles, etc., used in this position. Telephone, Computer, (Personal Computer and Mainframe), Automobile, Copier.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Describes physical conditions of this position.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as Light Work.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Conditions the worker will be subject to in this position.

Indoors and Outdoors: The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Manifests a professional code of ethics and values.
? Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS in a positive light.
* Models the routine, intentional and effective use of technology in daily work, including communications, organization and management tasks.
* Architect, implement and document information security infrastructure and oversight mechanisms for district applications.
* Assess reported security vulnerabilities and develop and propose technologically sound and robust countermeasures to emerging threats.
* Develop security policies that reflect and drive district security requirements.
* Work with operational teams to insure security of district data infrastructure.
* Assess and make recommendations of emerging technologies which may improve district's information security.
* Keep the Senior Director, Information Security informed about critical issues and incidents about which they should be aware.
* Provide metrics for accountability, through the Senior Director, Information Security that supports the IT Governance Model. The metrics will be revisited on no less than an annual basis in support of the districts goals and objectives. The metrics will be monitored and measured in support of the information technology balanced scorecard, which will be revised on a periodic basis.
* Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to all HRMD guidelines and the district’s instructional initiatives.
* Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to fixed assets.
* Develop leadership in subordinates.
* Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
* Responsible for maintaining timely and accurate information and accountable for the quality of information maintained by those they supervise.
? Responsible for self development and keeping up to date on current research, trends and best practices relevant to the area of responsibility.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Non-bargaining unit compensation plan, twelve months, 8.0 hours per day.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.

Pay: $62,123.00 - $98,220.00 per year
