Lee Spring is seeking a Secondary Set-up Operator to join our Santa Fe Springs, CA plant.

Description

Generally, the role includes performing any of the secondary manufacturing functions involved in spring production for a new facility of an established 100-year-old company. Functions can include the set-up and operation of winding, wire bending, grinding, heat treating, and other secondary operations (like blanking, trimming, chamfering, piercing, bending). Products to be manufactured include helical springs (compression, extension, torsion), wire forms, and flat springs.


Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and factory orders in order to determine best manufacturing methods and product compliance
  • Set up and operate manual spring winders
  • Set up and operate various other machines, including air presses, manual presses, and wire benders
  • Set up and operate machining equipment, including surface grinders, mills, lathes, and assorted other benchtop equipment/tooling
  • Determine tooling requirements and develop tooling, fixtures, holding devices and other machine or equipment accessories
  • Select or determine appropriate equipment, blocks, fixtures, and any other special tooling as necessary to meet production and quality requirements
  • Perform in-process inspections to assure proper product conformance
  • Follow work instructions and meet delivery schedules
  • Potentially coordinate training in the proper setup and operation of equipment


Required Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of related manufacturing experience preferred
  • Experience using adjustable precision measuring devices such as calipers, load testers, micrometers, and comparators
  • Ability to work from drawings and specifications
  • Team player willing to assist in almost any task required of a start-up facility
  • Ability to learn and think quickly
