Lee Spring is seeking a Secondary Operator to join our Brooklyn, NY plant.

We offer an extensive product line of more than 25,000 inventoried products in a variety of materials available in stock and ready to ship today. In addition, we also manufacture springs made to customer specifications. Lee Spring is the premier global source for stock catalog and custom designed mechanical springs and related products.

Founded by Robert Lee Johannsen in 1918, Lee Spring began in Brooklyn New York and our Global Headquarters are still based in Brooklyn today. Through the years, we have expanded with additional strategic locations throughout the United States, Europe, Latin America and Asia. We are well known for our extensive and comprehensive catalog of stock springs that have been used by engineers, professionals and buyers for decades. Beyond the catalog, we have considerable custom spring capabilities, personnel and a proficiency that comes with our many years within the industry.


Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Grinding:
    • Setup and operate all grinding machines.
    • Works from set up cards or operation sheets.
    • Select wheels, methods and tooling.
    • Dress and change wheels.
    • Judgment required in laying out work, setting up, checking, inspecting work, and selecting tooling to meet varying conditions.
    • Teardown of machines including routine cleanup and maintenance.
  • Secondary Operations:
    • Loading springs into and out of the drying oven.
    • Loading springs into and out of the heat-treating oven.
    • Loading springs into and out of the passivation tank.
    • Rinsing springs after parts have completed the passivation cycle.
    • Packing parts to be moved to the shipping area.
  • Shipping:
    • Print daily orders and cross-check with computer software to ensure accuracy.
    • Prepare and print shipping labels corresponding to shipping needs.
    • Assemble and fill boxes and other cartons with items that need to be shipped.
    • Affix proper postage to each package in preparation for shipping.
    • Process orders based on preferred shipping system (e.g. USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.).
    • Contact carrier and schedule shipping for each package.
    • Packs and unpacks orders while maintaining department schedule.
    • Effectively uses organization systems and warehouse technology to locate and gather stock.
    • Creates shipping labels and handles shipping information

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read and follow written work instructions
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Ability to lift or carry minimum 40 lbs
  • High mechanical aptitude
  • Preferred manufacturing experience

We are looking for day and evening availability.
