Part -Time CDL Driver

Pay: $18.75 - $30.00 per hour (based on contract)Summary:
Responsible for the transport of clients/students to and from a variety of locations related to individualized needs which can encompass schools and residences. Ensure the timely and safe pick up and arrival for clients with attention to customer service and individual transportation requirements. Essential Job Duties
- Operate school bus to transport authorized passenger to and from school programs in a safe and timely manner following prescribed route(s). Assess traffic and road conditions, monitor student behavior and other factors as necessary. Follow all state and federal traffic laws while operating vehicle. Adhere to DOT and state safety and district requirements and standards while operating yellow school bus.
- Maintain proper CDL and state school bus certifications including adhering to state and federal guidelines regarding criminal, medical, drug test and driving records.
- Assist passengers onto and off the vehicle when necessary.
- Perform daily pre and post trip vehicle inspections and safety checks as required by company standards and state guidelines. Report vehicle maintenance concerns or mechanical malfunctions to operations.
- Organize and performs bus evacuations according to district guidelines. Assure the safety of all students entering and exiting the bus by stopping all traffic in accordance with state law.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness inside and out following company protocols. Maintain all safety equipment
- Communicate clearly with operations office via company vehicle communication system. Report route delays to operations immediately.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with passengers, caretakers, program staff, and coworkers. Monitor and maintain accurate records of passenger attendance, incidents, and passenger behavior. Report passenger misconduct and suspected abuse or neglect of passengers to operations immediately.
- Attend and participate in mandatory company-sponsored trainings and meetings in order to maintain state mandated transportation certificates.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of any and all passenger information; and abide by the Consumer Sensitivity Agreement.
- Must perform a child check after dropping off at each school to ensure no child is left on the vehicle.
- Perform other duties as requested and required.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have a valid Driver’s License for 3+years.
- Must possess a CDL license with proper endorsements (P-Passenger Transport and S – School Bus) and an active school bus driver certificate.
- Pass a CORI, DDS fingerprint check, DOT Medical exam and DOT Drug Test. Depending on contract may require a TB test.
- Possess and maintain a good driving record (cannot have multiple violations or accidents within the last 5 years).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to operate a two-way vehicle communication system clearly.
- Must complete and pass the company required training program, prior to transporting any clients/students.
Physical Requirements
- Physically assist client entering and exiting vehicles and in cases of emergency. Lifting may be required in emergency situations only.
- Perform First Aid and CPR during training and during an actual emergency.
- Enter and exit the vehicle routinely, safely, and without difficulty.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, pull, push, and lift up to 25 pounds randomly throughout the day.
- Complete a pre and post trip vehicle inspection.
- Enter and exit the vehicle multiple times in order to conduct a thorough inspection for safety.
- Position wheelchairs and safely install and secure wheelchair restraints when necessary if required to drive a wheelchair bus.
- Manually operate the wheelchair lift when necessary if required to drive a wheelchair bus.
